I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but from what I have read on PDF, most Pakistani members will not agree with this article, even though it sounds so obvious.

Our defence budget is still not much as compared to other countries especially one which is our main threat and known for its war mongering mentality.

Can you ensure us that india won't invade Pakistan as it did back in 1971? And by the way do you think taliban will be defeated if we solely put our consideration into our economy

Hey mam you should be worried about your own country when 70% of your country men are living lives beyond poverty level and your pm instead of improving economy, is making new military hardwares as they did recently by testing Agni 5.

1) It is nowhere near 70%.
2) The present govt was elected into office solely on the promise of improving economy, and nothing else. Mr Modi's performance as Gujarat CM has been exemplary on the economic front, with growth rates comparable to or higher than China in some years.
3) A-5 has been in development for many years, and was first tested about 3 years back. Modi did not make it.

If that was the case where does we get 2+ trillion economy with better disparities level than US and China.
If we can move out 30+ crore people from.poverty until 2010.
We can move rest of them.within one and half decade.

1) 1999 is a lot closer in time than 1971. It was Pak that disturbed the peace by infiltrating into India. 1947 and 1965 were also started by Pak. Even if we can give an assurance, we are not in a position to accept such assurances from Pak, which so blatantly violated several mutual agreements of troop withdrawal to precipitate the Kargil war.

2) No, Taliban cannot be defeated solely by improving the economy, but that is an important start. You would notice that India's insurgencies have all paled and diminished after the growth of the 90s and 2000s. And when did say the Taliban should not be militarily defeated? They should be. The article is talking about Pakistan trying to achieve parity with India, and concentrating on "external security" rather thaan internal security.

If anything, the writer and I are both urging Pak to tackle the Taliban, instead of trying to match India.

I think you misunderstood the tone there. By "challenge accepted", I was just responding to your phrase of "watch this space", extending the metaphor.

As per recent reports 21.4% of total poor population of world lives in india.
And most of the states of india is worst than many African countries.
