What's new

COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, endorsed punishment to 2 Army and 1 civilian office for treason.

Sad. Does this problem also afflict Indian Army at senior level?

@Joe Shearer @Nilgiri @Dash

Look up Rabinder Singh.

The other example I cannot bring myself to speak about in an open forum. However, he was not a serviceman.

On the other hand, the Samba Spy Case was a horrible miscarriage of justice and a permanent black mark on us.

For matters relating to the contemporary Indian military, @jbgt90 and @Vibrio are the two most informed sources, although @Vibrio has to be careful not to say anything he ought not to. @jbgt90 is good even for things past.

Why though? Can we get US Marine General to grass up? Or British General? This needs to be looked at and addressed. I mean these men have good salary, comfortable living, prestige, respect and position in society. Certainly the British officers by comparison [note by comparison] do not enjoy the same perks, privilages or respect.

A brigadier in UK is just a brigadier. He has no signature outside of his base. He will stand in the same line as everybody else. He won't be able to cut corners because he is a 'brigadier'. But such treachery is unheard of in British Army.

This raises questions over recruitment, training, motivation, promotions etc.

Let's be honest with ourselves. I think we need to have an open discussion on this one. Try buying out an American General on an issue of existential threat to America. Even if you offer him a billion dollars, he knows he has nowhere to spend that money. He can't live lavishly in most of the Western world: US, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand are all out of the question. Furthermore, a billion dollars doesn't buy much these days. A lavish (and I mean grandiose) property can go up to $200 million if you include the tennis courts, swimming pools, heli pad, in house theatre, stables for horses etc. Then a super yacth can be upwards of $200 million. That's almost half your money gone, and you still haven't bought a helicopter and plane. And we all know that a boat is basically a money pit so the rest of your money is going to drain very easily. In short, a country like Pakistan doesn't have much incentives to provide. I need not elaborate the charms these generals find in foreign lands.

What can Pakistan offer? Meritocracy, and the opportunity to apply creativity and intellect in an environment comprising peers of similar intellectual level. Creativity is a drug and believe you me there aren't many places in the world where it is available. You go and work in the West, and you will find egotistical bosses bearing down on everyone to try and save their positions. It's mind numbing rigmarole. Thankfully, national interests such as our strategic forces, hi-tech weapons, or even top-notch economy, they all require sublime intellect. Nurture a culture of education, learning, and creativity, and give people the freedom to innovate. Include them in the resulting windfalls. But for this, we need to address education from the grounds up. And need to break up the existing familial oligarchy in the army.

Finally, in all of the above, it goes without saying that Islam is the one and only thing that guarantees our survival and protection of our national interests.

The Lt Gen was on USD4000 and the Brigadier was on USD1700 per month stipend of the CIA

Yup you are right it's an alarming situation that a 3 star general of Pak army is involved in espionage and god knows since how many years he was doing this dirty job for the CIA,btw MI should be taken into accountability because it was their job to check the activities of all officers/soldiers.

What needs to be looked at is why do we have officers even in senior ranks selling themselves to outside countries? I rarely see senior British Army officers or US Army officers or Russian Army officers doing the same. How are they innoculated against money, women etc? Anybody want to answer this puzzle?

*Ps. I can' even recall the last time I heard or read about a senior British Army officer doing this type of thing.

Great question. I don't have any answers.

I'm glad the ba5tards were caught though. Hanging them alone is not enough though. Their entirely family should be stripped of all it's wealth, including parents, siblings and in-laws. They should also be removed from any government role and blocked from any state job for the next 3 generations.

A real scorched earth approach is required to traitors.

Hizb ul Tahrir is very active around the western world, nearly every city has their members. Many years ago so many HT members went to Pakistan to preach HT viewpoints, they stated they have close contacts with senior army officers. I assumed they were scoring points but surprising to know it's actually true. More surprising is they went Pakistan and preached for many years, made close contacts with army officers and came back safely. Pakistan intelligence haven't got a clue and no action taken.

If it was some innocent person then I am sure he'd be in jail for 10years for no apparent reason. These are the things HTs and Ikhwanis use to influence people. What they say is always true but the afterwards is where they do the twisting. Use Islam and justice to recruit people and then brainwash them for an all out rebellion leading to fitna, killings and war.

But then again a lot of Islamst are tolerated by the army. Whoever is their favourite is fine and whoever is not good in their books then they will be regarded as extremist and terrorists.

they shared sensitive information with American intelligence
Its stupid thinking that USA is not aware what is happening in Pakistan.

[emoji23] Do Pakistan have sensitive info, I think USA, Russian, China, & Developed countries kept some sensitive information.

Pakistan Army is not remains liked in 1947 to 2005.

If army needs its protection then only way out is to stopping Gen & Brig, senior officer to moving USA or any other countries after retirement.
Because every senior person left Pakistan after retirement. Therefore Pakistan is not established properly.

Sorry I own decided to moving abroad. [emoji41] But problems in Pakistan is not my fault, no gov give me chance to work properly.
Its old established agenda running in Pakistan.
