For newbies, suggest something melodic like Mozart's Symphony No. 40 or something exciting like Kachaturian's Sabre Dance.

I'm trying to introduce them to a wide range of classical, so I've included different pieces here and there by some of the more known composers, some waltz, mostly parts that have been used a lot in Pop culture. Stuff they've all heard before but don't know of as such.

And yeah, Mozart's 13th and 40th fit the bill.

I remember a local orchestra, the Richmond Orchestra performed it, that's when I first heard it and it was good.
