NEWS DESK: It’s the holiday season and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), keeping in line with the spirit of inclusiveness, just had a Santa on board!

According to PIA, it was “holly jolly flight”.

The Santa could be seen handing out a gift bag in one of the pictures.

People took pictures of the Santa as he walked by.

And that’s a selfie with the Santa!

Here’s what the airline’s tweet read: “Ho ho ho and Christmas Cheer!! It was a holly jolly flight as PIA had a visit from Santa Claus with lots of gifts for everyone!! We had fun, we had joy, we had very happy passengers! Merry Christmas to all those celebrating #PIA #Christmas”

Shame on increasing foreignization/Christianization/Westernization of Pakistan by intent...

There's no organic 'demand' for things like Christmas celebrations, Christmas trains, Easter holidays, Valentines day, Santa Clause costumes, or gay marriage rights in Pakistan. But some quarters inline with foreign (read liberal, secular western) interests, are creating these images in public life to make all that 'normal' in the eyes of broader Pakistani audiences.

Our media and film industry are spear heading this movement of liberalization of Pakistan without any organic demand from the public.

It's all very clear to see for anyone who has ten brain cells bundled together. Some people will play dumb intentionally because they secretly love the ongoing efforts of secularization/liberalization of Pakistani society but won't say it out loud because they don't want to be discredited.

And oh, doesn't surprise me one tinest bit that @Zibago posted the thread :D I didn't even check the OP at first..

How expected

This is not our culture. We have nothing to do with this.

I feel your sentiment. I have been telling my patients, Happy Holidays (a compromise statement). Is there any Islamic ruling on how we suppose to address Christmas? As a Christian holiday, I want those that observe it to be happy, but not put me in a position to say something unislamic.

My understanding is that you can say 'Merry Christmas' with the intention of sharing well wishes for their moment of happiness and with the understanding that we don't know whether Hazrat Eesa Alaihissalam or Jesus Christ was actually born on this day. I tried digging into some Christian friends about what they really believe. There seems to be a lot of discrepancies amongst various Christian denominations. Some say outright that its origins are from a pagan Winter Solstice celebration and devised to guide people towards Christianity. Others say it is a 'symbolization' of the birth of Christ. Some Christians are ok if I say Merry Christmas. Others have actually reacted strongly, telling me I am not Christian and have nothing to do with Christmas. From experience, no one seems to take offence if I don't say Merry Christmas (instead saying Happy New Year or Happy Holidays), but some people DO take offence if I say 'Merry Christmas'. But all of this discussion applies if you are living in a Christian majority country.

The official airlines of Islamic Republic of Pakistan has no business celebrating this for all and sundry, Muslim and Christian alike. I mean, do they say 'Happy Eid' during Eid holidays to every customer?

Bro Christians also living, serving with us and part of our culture.

Their religious holidays are not our culture. In this case, PIA is actually celebrating it, rather than merely wishing Happy Christmas to a Christian person.

People getting triggered over a Christmas celebration. Give it a break ffs.
The same kind blew up outside a church few days ago

Funny that the most most fundamentalist brain dead comments comes from those who have fled Pakistan and living in most liberal Christian countries.. Is there no shame in them ?

@Kaptaan @waz
They wish to take out racism they face on folks below them on the social or economic ladder
A very shitty but common thing

So what do you call culture of almost 5 million Pakistani Christians? Are they not worthy of even goodwill gestures?
