This is a brilliantly delivered description of every Westerner's perception of Third World countries.
It's the kind of really semantic perception I have never seen anyone ever put to paper. The perception that in the Third World, everything is always just a little off, too loud, too tacky, not quite clean, crude, etc. Shaking this perception is crucial to moving up from Third World status.
