Chinese President Wont Attend Pakistan Day Parade - Tariq Fatmi

Yaar, was that this difficult to comprehend?

The spokespersons do take question but they are under clear instructions on what questions to answered and how. First, they use diplomatic language that is anything but clear cut, secondly, they do not comment on questions that exceed their mandate. In the US the same thing happens. It is a press briefing not a talk show.

Since you don't have a dedicated foreign affairs ministry, doesn't the spokesperson have added responsibility to clarify perceptions and dispel the confusion about the Chinese PM visit.

I strongly believe China is tired of corrupt politicians ruling Pakistan over & over again plus corrupt politicians continues dishonesty with China. I remember China been very close to Pakistan in Gen. Musharraf era, though General didn't give unlimited access to China yet they were happy on how things were progressing. Also the Gawadr project was moving on very nicely which kept the Chinese really happy & this project was guaranteed economical progress for Pakistan. But look what PPP & PML-N have done with Pakistan today, people who still call these corrupt bastards good politicians & democratic progress are nothing than fools & enemy of Pakistan just like these corrupt politicians who have brought only chaos & anarchy in Pakistan.

. . .
In other words, it is the lollipop given to pakistani awam (including many in PDF) so that they can sit quietly.

Not getting your point. Being a spokesperson does not qualify not aware of current affairs or is it?

Sartaj Aziz is a good diplomat. Under him Pakistan has developed better relations with Russia and shaped foreign policy with Afghanistan. He is an intelligent man. Regardless of who attends Pakistani foreign policy has been solid and sincere towards who ever wants to build ties.

It is not his fault Pakistan has no industry to offer. Its up to the country to start working hard and create profitable industries.

.
My point is simple. Its the institutions that make or break things, not some representative. Pakistan thinks that its the loser civilian representatives that are responsible whereas matter of fact is, your institutions are still nascent enough to turn around things at their choice.

Pardon me for my words but I have never seen Pakistan having an independent, matured, self fulfilling stance. We have seen u either being 'with them or against them' or being someone's 'higher than mountains and deeper than oceans friend'.

Point is where does Pakistan fit in World Diplomacy? As an independent soveirgn state in true sense and not just on paper? or as part of some powerfull countries strategy and be a vessel or medium for that country to fulfill its strategic agenda?

Pakistan army drives their foreign policy, especially the one's about Afghanistan India’s, US and China. So blaming the civilians is wrong.

The improvement with Russia should be credited to zardari in Reality - he made numerous trips to Moscow and sent multiple overtures to Putin to improving ties.

And they didn't bite because they didn't trust Zardari. However I agree, deals are rarely signed in the 1st meeting but Aziz has done a good job managing these ties.

I believe this news is false.

Pakistan Army and Govt went into overdrive seeing Obama as the Chief Guest of Indian Republic Day parade. They felt compelled to show their response, childish as it may seem to the rest of the world like Pakistan firing nasr each time after India's space mission. It is meant to please its not very rational domestic audience.

And as such Pakistan staked a lot on ensuring that it too has a parade with 'President of the next superpower' attending.

I think Pakistan will in the end be able to get the Chinese to attend. Its a prestige issue for them now.

That's the truth not many in Pakistan understand. When they say that there is a failure of diplomacy & blame those in charge, they must ponder to think what it is exactly that these people have to work with. There's a limit to how much Pakistan can sell its "geo-strategic" importance. Other than a couple of countries, who really is interested in geo-strategic importance? Your diplomats go in with empty pockets, from where can they then weave the magic carpets that Pakistanis want them to produce?
