China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) commissioned its 25th Jiangkai II-class (Type 054A) frigate on 29 June, just six days after the previous ship of the class.
Named Wuhu and given pennant number 539, the vessel is expected to join two other Type 054A frigates operated by the 10th Destroyer Squadron of the North Sea Fleet, which is based in Lushun (formerly known as Port Arthur).
Wuhu was built at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai and was launched on 8 June 2016. It is the 13th of the class to be completed by the yard.
All other Type 054As have been built at the Huangpu shipyard in Guangzhou. Each of the yards launched another of the class earlier this year, which are currently fitting out.
