Chinese nationalism goes viral

So even the most pro-China media organizations in India, still print headlines like "China could attack India before 2012"? :undecided:

Karthic, what would you consider to be the most reliable news sources in India? I don't mind if they lean to the left or to the right.

media also reflects public opinion..

for example , there are threads running on india-defence on india-china war on which every one of you contibutes....and there are chinese prople openly calling for a war , i9nfect the i am not even seen such a war fonding amonge pakistans even..
NDTV might just reflecting chinese view point on war...

Press freedom, and mind you that was not the opinion of NDTV, rather that of an analyst whose 'analysis' NDTV has published.

I would consider 'The Hindu' (dont go by the name, it is anything but it) among the Print media. And none among the Electronic media. Everyone has his own agenda.

For example Dont trust ;

CNN-IBN - regarding Congress
NDTV 24*7- regarding Right wing groups
TIMES NOW (ToI) - regarding Pakistani affairs ( a bit sensationlised always)

You have to watch all these and get a weighted average.

I agree. From what I have personally read, I consider "The Hindu" to be the most objective/reliable media source in India.

Just my opinion of course, and bear in mind that I'm an outsider so I can only read Indian media sources that are printed in English.

.
Now that is overdoing it.

Yes they are a bit sensationalist (capitalism at work) but then it is not as bad as it is made out to be by people across the border.

They dont do things like publishing fake news (leaks) and later apologising for it.

:disagree: just not a long time ago:

34 US warships to guard Obama in India | Times of India

34 warships sent from US for Obama visit | NDTV

OR

remember the news from TOI a few years back, which claimed that Chinese soldiers fired at Indian soldiers at the border? this turned out to be fake, but most Indians believed the news till your gov came out and cleared the air, and many Indians even today still believe the news is true

No - you are correct.

95% content of the Hindu is objective though some times they betray their leftist/communist leanings in matters concerning Hindu groups and Maoists.

And actually North Indians dont have the pleasure to read it since it is published only in South India.

.

Is it false ?

Do you think occasional firings dont happen on the borders ?? If so continue living in your cuckoo land.

NDTV is by far the most left-leaning, pro-China visual media house in India. And I repeat , By far. The print counterpart is 'The Hindu'.

And NDTV's credibility has taken a hit considering its chief editor , Barkha Dutt has been named by Nira Radia in the paid news controversy.

And yes regarding that link - it is Press Freedom.
The hindu sure is chinese leaning with N.Ram directly paid by CCP.:D

Thats the most stupid statement i heard today.. even my state, which is ruled by a communist government has its own media paper, but they have their own identity just like the newspaper "The Hindu"..

Try the off topic rants and trolling to some other thread.. i am sure you will still survive here.

Hindu also publish from Kolkata and quite popular here. I think they would come at third after Calcutta Telegraph(another credible and centrist newspaper) and TOI in popularity.

.
Who said so? We get the Hindu in Delhi

Yup... its published in Chennai, Coimbatore, Banglaore, Hyderabad, Madurai, Delhi, Vizaq, Trivandrum, Kochi, vijayawada, mangalore, trichy, kolkata and hubli.

Wow ! This is news to me.

I have been in Mumbai and Ahmedabad and first when I asked for 'The Hindu' the newspaper wala said 'Well, Here I am'. (kidding).

So I thought Hindu is published only in South India.

ps.: As benny had put, maybe these two cities alone have Hindu. This is where I got confused.

Sounds like our news sites. You have to look at all the news and think carefully about what's true, what's not, and what's true but not complete. I don't even watch TV anymore, just use internet news only... CCTV is f*king worthless. I have to say, People's Daily's online forum is very good, but the censors are rather strict. I prefer Tiexue and Club China.

Also I have noticed the censors are the strictest not on political things but on online pornography. Last year there was the 破处门 and the video unfortunately was deleted within the hour (but over 100,000 people had downloaded it already; the censors also can't control p2p file sharing). However, comments attacking the government are rarely deleted unless they're very very bad.

.
I don't think any of mainstream new papers post 'fake' news, however they may differ in their approach of articulating the news and opinion pieces.
