Chinese citizens attacked in Karachi’s Saddar area, one killed:

Both Chinese dentists are stable 70+ age and out of danger. They are born in Pakistan but get Chinese citizenship because their parents being Chinese.
The person who dies was their assistant who also had a dual citizenship despite being born in Pakistan.

Police need to look at it from robbery or street crime angle as well.
As a kid I frequently visited these "Chinese' dentists and they were amazing.

.
The blame is on people living in Sindh who allow PPP to rule. The amount of political capital this is costing Pakistan.

Benazir gave nuclear secrets to Iran. PPP needs to be removed.

The old couple probably runs the clinic for the poors in Karachi. Dentist is a respected profession in China and, if they wanted, they could make a lot more money in China. Poor folks. Evil things happened to kind hearts.

There are actually lots of Chinese living in Karachi. I even went to school with few of them. They have been established and running their clinics in Karachi even before the independence. They are also well known among horse racing community. There was a saying as a kid that if the dentist is not Chinese then he is not a real dentist!

Karachi[edit]

During the 1940s many Chinese Muslims fled unrest in China and settled in Karachi.[3] However the Chinese community there is primarily of non-Muslim origins; their ancestors were Buddhists, but subsequent generations follow other religions or none at all. About 30% are estimated to have converted to Islam.[4]

Most Chinese in Karachi are second generation children of immigrants—the oldest generation have mostly died off, while the third generation have emigrated to other countries.[4] Common destinations for emigrants are the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, or to their ancestral country China.[3] They rarely wear Chinese clothing, but still retain the Chinese language, though in recent years they have shown increasing language shift towards Urdu.[3][4] Previously, the community was segregated by provincial origin, but with the establishment of a Chinese Committee to represent the community, they have become more integrated. They are concentrated in a few neighbourhoods, including near the PECHS and Tariq Road, as well as Saddar and more recently Clifton and Defence neighbourhoods in Saddar Town.[4] The Clifton and Defense Society areas has about 15 Chinese restaurants; the area is sometimes unofficially referred to as "Chinatown".[5] One of the more well-known of these, the ABC Chinese Restaurant, founded by Li Dianxian (李殿贤) in the 1930s, was once patronised by Zhou Enlai, and continued operating until 1988.[6]

Common professions include beauticians, shoemakers, dentists, and the restaurant trade; most members of the second generation tend to follow the same trade as their parents did.[4] Chinese dentists, in particular, have a reputation for providing quality service to the low-income residents of the city. Yet many of them are unlicensed and lack any formal training in dentistry. Instead, many of their parents had previously lived among the Chinese community in British Malaya (present-day Malaysia) and worked as dental assistants; when they came to Pakistan in the 1940s, they began practicing as full dentists themselves. There was a shortage of dentists in Karachi at that time, as there was only one dental school in the entire province of Sindh, at Hyderabad. They primarily provided simple procedures such as manufacture and fitting of dentures as well as extraction of teeth; however, in later years, some prospered enough that they were able to hire formally trained dentists to provide more complex procedures.[7]

A Chinese national was shot dead and two others were injured on Wednesday afternoon after an unidentified assailant opened fire inside a dental clinic in Karachi’s Saddar area, a police official said.

Speaking at the scene of the crime, SSP South Asad Raza told reporters that one person was killed and two people were injured who were shifted to a hospital for treatment. He confirmed that the three were Chinese people.

According to the official, the assailant, in his early 30s, was clad in trousers and a blue shirt. He entered the clinic pretending to be a patient and opened fire, Raza told Dawn.com.

In a press release issued afterwards, the police identified the victims as 25-year-old RonilD Raimond Chaw (sic), 72-year-old Margrade and 74-year-old Richard.
It said that the victims had been running the dental clinic for a long period of time and didn’t have any threat.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed told Dawn.com that a man with bullet wounds was brought dead to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.

Dr Syed said that two others — a man and a woman — were taken to the Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre in an injured state.

The police surgeon said that the condition of both the injured foreigners was critical as they have suffered bullet wounds in their abdomen.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the killing, according to a spokesperson.

The CM sought a detailed report from the Karachi Additional IGP. Shah also ordered the immediate arrest of the attackers and observed that such incidents were not tolerable, according to the official statement.

This incident is the latest in the recent spate of attacks on Chinese nationals in the country. In April, three Chinese nationals were killed in a suicide attack outside the University of Karachi’s (KU) Confucius Institute.

Attack is claimed by a new organization called 'Sindhudesh People's Army'

Sounds really fishy .....So Called Sindhi nationalists are only capable of blowing rail lines and themselves......I highly doubt this.

.
Targetted attack on Chinese. Doesn't matter if they were living here, the headline is what the Indians/Americans want. Recently Nord stream has been sabotaged, most likely by the Americans. I expect a response close to American shores. When will we be start giving it back??

.
There seems to be some coordinated headlines grabbing attacks back to back

I think may b co inciding with English team visit to pakistan.

Yesterday there was a suicide attack after a long time in tribal areas. Thanks God trucks were armor platted hence no casualties apart from bomber .

Now this softest of soft targets dual pak Chinese Nationals in their 70s.

Do I see a pattern ??

.
A new terrorist group that goes by the name of Sindhudesh People's Army has taken responsibility for the attack.
Bunch of idiots.

BLA and SPA are the same thing and are closely connected - its not exactly a "new" organization per se
BLA infrastructure, training, camps, connections etc

.
Why not pak soldiers provided for security?
because they havent done much good in Balochistan or Karachi.
the game is up. Chinese are already talking about stationing their own troops inside Pakistan and providing their own security to the Chinese citizens.

I dread the day when audio / video leak of conversations between Chinese and Pakistanis happens after these attacks. the way PTI govt was humiliated while trying to cover up the attack on the bus carrying Chinese engineers is just one small example.

as for this attack in Karachi, these will increase with time and suddenly stop once Chinese Troops take over the security of Gawader and anywhere there is Chinese people concentration.
we can in the meantime blame Iran, India and Uganda because that will shame the attackers and soothe the chinese.

.
Where is Mir Bajwa? Busy somewhere else? Possibly giving welcome dinner to Issac Dollar?

.
They were not Chinese citizens working innPakistan and hence do not qualify for extra protection . They were born and bred Pakistanis who happened to have a Chinese citizenship because of their parents.
Now there should be no difference in the value of lives of our citizen but we all know it will never happen .

Idiotic idea to provide troops from equally idiotic mind .

.
Innalillahi wainalahi rajioun

How evil can one be to murder 70 plus year old dentists .

Like an Indian poster remarked subcontinent is a cesspit full of the worst mankind has to offer .
