Sad. But such a sensitive kid shouldn't have joined the army in the first place. Such harassments are common in army. I am sure life in PLA would be more brutal.

But this show the weakness in american selection procedure that they recruit sensitive kids for their army and again if he was not good enough after he was selected on merit then he could been sacked after warnings instead of giving him mental torture. we also know what these army men did in abu garib jail in iraq so its nothing new

I did say something and my platoon commander, who as a black marine, filed a complaint through the chain of command and got the CO transferred and eventually dishonorably discharged (from what I heard through scuttlebutt). I also contacted my congressman and started a formal congressional inquiry into the many incidents that occurred. In the end, I received a cell phone call from the XO, 2 weeks before I wad to get out and he apologized to me and assured me this situation would be "dealt with", whatever the hell that meant.

If those are true, then you got far more progress than you have the right to complain about the system.

man - how do you have the gall to write something like this about abu gahrib when we have videos of pakistan army personell lining up folks ( civilians/ Unarmed) and shooting them point blank? all armies have dishonorbale slip through-- some more than others...

Is that you Lt Choi. I'm from a “marine" family too--- and really what got me thinking you are full of it , was when you said you did 8 years in the marine core. Well, if you had experiences like you have mentioned - why did you not get out after your initial commit?

On the surface it doesn't seem wrong. They say whites are proportionally represented, blacks overrepresented, and Asians underrepresented in the military.

Of course the Wall Street military regime will not tell us, as that will shatter the myth of a citizen army composed of volunteers, and instead it will be painfully obvious that the US military is just the mercenary arm of Wall Street.

What a joke. My own daughter was "cannon fodder" in Afghanistan. My son is in the Army. My wife and I are both cracker white honkeys (college graduate professionals) with lucrative jobs.

My children have chosen to serve, as my wife and I both did in our young adult days.

She was in the medical corps, but ended up being a female member of a team that interacted with local citizens and was involved with Shuras and the like. Since Afghan women cannot talk to strange men, she was there to talk to them.

While they were out trying to help in agriculture, governance, and medical issues, the Taliban were trying to kill them. As a parent, yes it was enormously stressful. I'd log in here and read posts from people who were applauding dead American troops, and rooting for the Taliban and AQ.

I've got a lot of stories from her time there, and most of them are pretty bad. We need to get out, but God help the people of Afghanistan if the ANA or local militias cannot protect them, because the Taliban will take advantage if allowed.

Maybe you are an exception. But would it change the fact that the US military is the mercenary branch of a government that has deep fear of its own citizens, and believes that military force is a crucial way of "managing" them?

Otherwise why is it that the US army rides in APCs to "rescue" people stranded after Hurricane Katrina?

Why are these soldiers in combat pose and aiming guns at civilians, in an American city?

Why are they guarding survivors behind a fence while armed with machine guns? Why does it look like a concentration camp?

My question to you is why america was not helping Afghan in agriculture, governance, and medical issues before 9/11. We know talibaan were rulers of Afganistan from September 1996 onwards. Why America was not helping Afghans after Russia left their country in complete mess and after they were able to expel Russia from Afghanistan with the help of US and Pakistan. Again do you have any ideas of civilian causalities because of this war on terror or this help in Afghanistan or Iraq. The War in Afghanistan (2001–present) has caused the deaths of thousands of Afghan civilians directly from NATO and ISAF military action.

She said that treatment of arrogant and uncivilised Taliban was much better than treatment of civilised army with prisoners in Iraqi jails and Guantanamo Bay..

Why wasn't Pakistan helping? Or China? Or Zimbabwe, or Iceland? The entire world dropped the ball on Afghanistan.

When the U.S. arrived, the Taliban had already allowed the Afghan infrastructure decay into a crude model of society circa 900 AD, except it was worse. If I understand my history, women were allowed to learn to read, could have a job... there was music, dancing, and laughter. People from 900 AD would look with pity upon Afghanistan in 2001.
