China is a big manufacturer but it doesn't have the quality of life as those of European countries. Your GDP per capita is 9K. That's lower than Malaysia, Turkey, and Russia.

China has a big foreign presence but nobody would want to settle there. I don't think anybody from Switzerland, Uk, France, Germany, Austria would want to settle in China just for the quality of life. China is way behind when you take the average and not the total numbers.

The only number matters is how many of them living here at any given time.China doesn't allow foreigner to become Chinese citizens, that's our law.

China might be a great place to live nobody is denying that but it's not on European levels. Your HDI rank is somewhere in 80's. That means a common Chinese has a lesser quality of life than 80 odd countries in the world

If you ask me to move to a new place what I have to think is what I can get there, could I have a better life being worth this trouble, how can I support myself..many many factors, it's not an easy decision. Weighing and balancing everything people can think of, many of them choose to come to China. People don't go to a place for nothing, that's common sense.

China is better than Europe for Quality of Life? . I like China and admire it for its transformation but it's not Europe yet in anyway. There is a reason European countries despite being so small get large number of immigrants. Even in Pakistan where the Chinese love is quite high I don't remember anybody going to China for Quality of life.

Portugal's average annual salary is $20-30K. What is China's? If I live in Portugal I would be much healthy since the air is clean and not polluted like China that means I will live longer. Portugese passport will give me the freedom to travel in 160 places compared to 60 with Chinese Passport. I will have free speech that means I can criticize the government without being put to Jail. I would also have the power to vote and chose people for office. Mean and Median Schooling years are higher in Portugal that means my Kids will have a higher chance of studying more. That's not a knock on China just its not better than European Nations for a better living which is a fact.

China's quality of life is more comparable to Brazil or Russia than Europe.
