China's Dam on Brahmaputra

yes "If properly developed" that part has still not happened .. we hardly use this river ..

Read again:

"The Brahmaputra River is the lifeline of Assam and its economy. It can be argued that, if properly developed, the Brahmaputra basin can be one of the most prosperous regions of India. The key is to harness the Brahmaputra’s water resources and other resources that accompany it."

Source: The Brahmaputra in Assam’s Economy - Springer

It says Brahmaputra is already the "lifeline" of Assam's economy and if properly developed it could bring more prosperity.

Considering the dependence of Assam's economy on agricultural sector the river seems to be quite crucial for Assam.

"Abstract
The Brahmaputra River is the lifeline of Assam and its economy. It can be argued that, if properly developed, the Brahmaputra basin can be one of the most prosperous regions of India. The key is to harness the Brahmaputra’s water resources and other resources that accompany it. This chapter makes a few preliminary remarks about the role of the Brahmaputra in Assam’s economy, especially from a navigational viewpoint."

It will be great if we actually start using the river .Currently all we do is let all the water to go waste..The author only talks about possiblities not realities

You don't need to read the full article to get this thing, it just needs basic comprehension skills. We use "will" for future tense and "is" for present tense. The article says "The Brahmaputra River is the lifeline of Assam and its economy", that means the author is implying Brahmaputra already has major influence on Assam's economy and it could contribute more if properly developed.

Now Bangladeshi should not cry for water problem infront of India they should demand it from China because they hold water of bangladesh not us.

lol maybe cultural lifeline or miniscule income from state inland water transportation system.if we were using it I would have written it,and the author implies the same ,all about the possibilities not the ground realities If you think we are utilizing brahmaputra for any good use you are in for surprise, we just let it go to waste .. This is no thames of India..

And now an Indian is bringing up rape for no reason.

Why is it that the International media has branded India as the "rape capital of the world"?

I am not sure if my country is called the "Rape capital of the world", however, you are repeating this in every other thread.

I think it is time for a reality check, China does have a higher incidence of rape per 100,000 people compared to India.

Tough facts about rape in China

China Daily, July 29, 2014

A series of sex abuse cases in China has led to growing public awareness of sex crimes. Recently, sexual assaults on at least five school girls by local vagrants were investigated in Shandong province. Also in the news was a report of a Xiamen University professor accused of molesting and raping female students that went viral on the Internet.

According to a United Nations report based on police records of rapes in 130 countries from 2003 to 2012, the incidence of rape is not as high in China — at 2.1 per 100,000 people — as in the US (26.6), the UK (23.2), South Korea (12.7) and other countries. The UN report ranked China 81st in 130 countries surveyed. But does this actually mean China has such an extremely low rate of sex crimes?

The answer is no. In China, a large number of sexual abuses are not recorded. A 2013 multi-country survey by on sex crimes in the Asia Pacific region shows that 22.7 percent of Chinese males surveyed said they had raped a woman.

Furthermore, among those Chinese accused of committing sex crimes, only 24.9 percent were arrested, compared with an average of 32.5 percent for all the countries surveyed. Also, only 15.6 percent were imprisoned, compared with an average of 22.9 percent for all the other countries surveyed. On the surface, it appears that the rate of registered rape cases in China is lower than the average level of the Asia Pacific region, but the issue is more complicated.

That IS depressing. But true facts on the ground is rather muddy in China. Or in any country that is mostly closed to foreigners and even internal discussions are closely monitored and controlled.

China's dam does not affect us much, in this case it might have a greater impact on Bangladesh unfortunately.

he once argued that chicken neck does not have 4 lane highway and double track railway.....i showed him pics and satellite image even then he believes what some idiot write on article ........same is here whatever you do.... for them that abstract is true of life then what you say

India just want to use Bangladesh as a pawn to confront water issue with China that all. Firstly water shortest will destroy the ecosystem in northeast region, will severely impact millions of lives depend on water supply for their agriculture and food source will become more scarce. India desperately want to Bangladesh be the main opposition because chine unwilling respond to India protest. India powerless dealing with China regard to the water issue lay within China territory.

Will the chinese dam effect the hindutva charals in India? If it does i don't mind this dam. India's river linking project is a more greater threat to BD than any other dams. Farraka was a major disaster for BD, tipai would be another where as the river linking project will be the death nail in the coffin. BD needs to learn how to cope in this kind of scenario & get technologies to minimize the effect of dams.

Did Indian gorvernement sleep well over the South Tibet issue? we have tormented them day and night and Indian medias are crying all over about Chinese incursion, when China set an appointment for another round of negociation over the border Issue, India has no choice but to comply. But with water, we can tormente India for centuries to come, generation and generation of Indians will cry about Chinese water.

Well said, as I said Indians are so hopeless over this water issue, they'r trying to mitigate their pain and fustration to BD and trying to spoil our relation... but they couldn't conceal the fact they hurt the most BD people with their water crime by discharge from the Dam to relieve excessit water and flooding consequencely BD without warning that drown alot BD childrens and damage BD home, road, harvest...as my previous video shown.

I think BD should join China to make India pay for their crime, the reason they are so scare of Chinese dam because they know the consequence of water discharge, we can cause potential damage to India as they did to BD, if they can get away with impunity, we Chinese can do the same to India without any remorse or responsability.
