China's critical role in global food security, With less than 20% of the world’s population, possesses over half of the world’s corn, rice and wheat

China did produced a lot of wheat but not half of the world.

According to your plan, many people will die in India and Bangladesh. Well, even if we don't care about India, there's no reason why we don't care about Bangladesh.

The engineers, including those in China Science Academy have make calculations. You go read the papers.

The Chinese Brahmaputera contributed merely 12% of Bangladesh Brahmaputera water. Most water come from Bangladesh and India itself. Tibet is a BIG desert.

bcs other countries doesnot store, they sell wheat and rice
China's reserve institutions will buy reserves when prices are too low, prevent prices from falling too fast, and sell to curb price rises when prices are too high. For example, a piece of news in October last year: China Economic Network, Beijing, October 11, according to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, in order to better play the role of government pork reserve regulation, stabilize market expectations, and maintain the smooth operation of the pork market. On October 10, the Ministry of Commerce, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and other departments, collected and stored 30,000 tons of central pork reserves, which were distributed and stored in 12 provinces.

China did produced a lot of rice but not half of world. But rice production may produce some waste methane. This is the reason white man want to put methane as greenhouse gas.

White man produce very little rice.

These global warming is a fking cult.

By making Asians eat wheat or worse fake meat, white man can better speculate in their future market, destroy local farmers, and enslave Asians.

All Asians should go against these fking global warming culture.

China is the largest producer of wheat, rice, fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, but the surplus will be stored. India tries to export as much as possible, such as rice.

India's way of living is very low-carbon! They just consume a faction of what Chinese need to consume in everything. Amazing people!

About twice to the average, don't think that is much compare to US and other countries.
Maybe China adds India is average number.

What China has achieved in last 20 - 30 years is nothing short of a miracle. Pak is right next door it can learn a lot from China but unfortunately we do not have leaders and people like China.

Na Pakistanis only know to loot, plunder, do corruption, and manipulation in the name of religion.

Russia-Ukraine conflict highlights wheat supply vulnerability, China holds half of the world wheat stock

The threat to wheat supplies from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been exacerbated by a shift in global stocks away from major exporters such as the United States and European Union, undermining their effectiveness as a cushion in times of crisis.

U.S. wheat futures rose to a 14-year high on Thursday as importers scrambled for supplies following the closure of ports in Ukraine and disruption to supplies from Russia. The two countries account for about 29% of global wheat exports.

Wheat futures have risen by about 40% so far this year, driving up food prices and contributing to a broader global inflation surge as economies recover from the coronavirus crisis.

Stocks in major wheat exporters — the European Union, Russia, the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Argentina, Australia and Kazakhstan — are set to fall to a nine-year low of 57 million tons by the end of the 2021-22 season, International Grains Council (IGC) data shows.

They now account for just one-fifth of global inventories and, with world consumption expected to total 781 million tons, that would feed the world for just 27 days.

If Russia and Ukraine are excluded, other major exporters account for 16% of global stocks or enough wheat to feed the world for less than three weeks.

“You need to look at what’s available,” Dan Basse, president of Chicago-based consultancy AgResource, said of wheat stocks. “If someone has a problem, there is surely not enough supply.”
There are also concerns the crisis may prevent farmers in Russia and Ukraine from planting grain crops this spring, putting further strain on global supplies.

Food security has moved up the agenda in major importing countries as supply chain issues during the COVID-19 pandemic coincided with harvest setbacks in key supply zones and the highest international grain prices in years.

Several states have been looking at ways to shield themselves against supply risks by increasing stocks of imported wheat or expanding their own production.

“Some countries are looking at modernizing their reserve system like Kenya for example. There has been a system of maize reserves in place and now they’re looking at expanding that into other grains especially wheat,” said IGC senior economist Alexander Karavaytsev.

Many of the world’s top importers are in the Middle East and North Africa where bread is an important staple but hot, dry weather makes it difficult to grow wheat.

Saudi Arabia in December said it had approved an exceptional increase in its local wheat procurement price to boost domestic production, as it turns away from a previous policy of relying almost exclusively on imports.

Top wheat buyer Egypt is considering an overhaul of its decades-old food subsidy program which provides cheap bread to nearly two-thirds of the population but is widely criticized as wasteful.
Egypt is planning to build more port silos and accepting more supply origins in import tenders to increase competition.

Some exporters like the EU and United States have seen wheat reserves ebb in recent decades due to subsidy reforms or a shift towards other crops like corn and soybeans.

The majority of wheat stocks not in the hands of major exporters are now in one country, China, which is expected to account for 131 million tons, or 47%, of global inventories at the end of the current season, according to IGC data.

Such figures are hard to verify as China closely guards data it sees as strategically important, but the country has clearly amassed reserves since the 2005-06 season when the minimum support price was introduced to encourage farmers to grow wheat.

“In China, there has been a refocus on food security in the past one or two years,” the IGC’s Karavaytsev said, adding that the minimum support price was raised in 2021 for the first time since 2014.

China has exported about 1 million tons a year in recent years, including to North Korea.

But some observers say the outlook may not be too bleak because of the even spread of wheat production around the world, in contrast to crops such as corn and soybeans, helping mitigate weather risks.

“A situation where the whole world has a crop problem is not something that happens very often (for wheat),” says Andree Defois, head of consultancy Strategie Grains.

Hubertus Gay, senior agricultural policy analyst at the OECD, said importers should seek to be attractive trading partners but he said buffer stocks also had a role. “The balance is very difficult,” he said.

2 years ago the west accused China of hoarding global PPE and medical supplies, now they will accuse China of hoarding the world food supplies.
China does hoarding because Xi Jingping prepares for war. Much like Vladimir Putin hoarding dollars before attacking Ukraine. It’s always suspicious when people stocking weapons, corns, meats, oil, gas, nationalism.

The question is not if but when China starts the war.

Seems like China has been "hoarding" the world food reserve for over a decade already, I also want to know when your claimed war would happen.

Putin prepares this war for years. Alone the military buildup along the entire Ukraine needs a year. Although he lied the world russian army is there just for fun. He hoarded golds, dollars, foods and other things over 10 years. Putin transferred about $80 billion dollars to Beijing.

If Xi Jingping and the warmonger Wei Fenghe do the same thing but in bigger scale than people become suspicious.

Lol, we'll see, can you give a approximate time frame for this coming "war"?
