‘China won’t let India gain entry into NSG’

Going by this logic nothing is credible in this retrospect. Especially the US and it's allies aren't suppose to be trusted at all when they attack sovereign states under false pretenses such as possession of mythical weapons of mass destruction. But as i said earlier, If China will block India's entry into the NSG it will be for China's own interests. For instance the following move by China had nothing to do with Pakistan. India is China's adversary and they do have ongoing disputes, whatever China does to counter India, automatically goes in Pakistan's favor.

India's official dream of getting a permanent seat in the UN Security Council was dealt a decisive blow with the US teaming up with China and Russia to oppose negotiations for changes in the body.

Well, what USA says does not carry much weight in Pakistan, but as long as it carries weight internationally, there is no problem. Pakistan's credibility issue is just the opposite.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis appear to be convinced that India will not make it to the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), despite having the support of the United States, and are relying on China to this end.

Pakistan’s former permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva and envoy at the Conference on Disarmament said on Wednesday that the “chances of India gaining entry into NSG are virtually nil”.

Ambassador Zamir Akram was speaking at a conference on the International Nuclear Order, organised by the Strategic Vision Institute and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

This is the second time in a month that a senior official involved in the country’s nuclear affairs has dismissed India’s chances. At a conference late last month adviser to the National Command Authority, retired Lt Gen Khalid Kidwai, had said: “We also have friends in NSG who would not let it happen.”

Mr Akram opined that China would not allow India to enter the coveted group because this would affect its nuclear cooperation with Pakistan. He said China is committed to ensuring that both India and Pakistan gain membership at the same time.

Other than China, he said there are some countries that are upset by the “double standards” being shown in India’s case, and are calling for an approach based on criteria.

The situation is reminiscent of 2008, when India received a country-specific safeguards agreement at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which paved the way for exemptions from the NSG for nuclear trade with India, despite the fact that it is not a signatory of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

On that occasion, both China and Pakistan initially indicated their opposition to an India-specific agreement with the IAEA, but when Islamabad later succumbed to US pressure, Beijing too withdrew its objection.

Discussing the global nuclear order, Mr Akram said it had been destabilised by a number of factors, including the world powers’ double standards and discriminatory exemptions granted to India.

For a balanced nuclear order, Mr Akram suggested the resolution of political disputes, a reduction in the reliance on nuclear weapons for deterrence, dialogue between nuclear weapon states on disarmament or controlling or containing nuclear arsenals, ending discriminatory policies followed by the US and other Western countries, and commitment to not building any more destabilising weapons.

Former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Gen Ehsanul Haq, while inaugurating the conference asked Pakistani diplomats to demonstrate self-confidence “based on the legitimacy of our case and the credibility of our capabilities”.

Gen Ehsan also criticised the world nuclear order for being “highly discriminatory and obstructive”.

He said Pakistan’s nuclear programme would continue “no matter how adverse the environment, to provide us the credible deterrence against the existential threats we confront”.

SVI president Dr Zafar Iqbal Cheema, too, expressed disapproval of the nuclear order. He said the world powers were using the NPT and the Non-Proliferation Regime (NPR) for their political, strategic and foreign policy objectives, thereby diminishing their credibility.

He said Pakistan was a victim of the West’s discriminatory attitude. He said the Indo-US nuclear deal provides India with fissile material for 50 additional warheads every year by sparing local resources.

He said the proposed brackets for mainstreaming Pakistan in the nuclear order were tantamount to dismantling its deterrence capability.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the think tank recommended that the government continue challenging the discrimination faced by Pakistan and seek an equitable and inclusive regime in the transforming global nuclear order.

SVI also called for maintaining credible deterrence capability against India, and advised against compromising security for mainstreaming in the nuclear order.

India is China's natural rival. The two will always compete with each other. However, China has far greater reach, influence, resources, and prestige at the global level. Indians can cheat, steel, beg, and buy. The West wants to use India as a bulwark for Containing China. Indians are happy with that and willing to do dirty work. China knows what these evils been doing to bleed and kill Chinese works and engineers in Pakistan working on CPEC project. That was one of the prime goal of RAW's disgraced terrorist Commander Kul Bhushon Jadhav (aka Terrorist Monkey) who was just recently caught in Pakistan.

Has China itself ever said such a thing about blocking India? These seem to be uncorroborated claims by Pakistan only.

Perhaps this over enthusiasm may hurt the interests of China They need a good relation with India .Making claims like this is far provocative and will undermine Chinese interests and also Pakistan interests .
We know China is blocking our membership ,but publicly claiming will give us enough reason for firm up our stance.

Dear Friend,

On a average Rs. 35 per day is sufficient for a common man in India. In Shivamogga which is my place Govt is providing rice & sugar at subsidized rate through Local PDS.

and with reference to your photos regarding HDI I am not able to see what Indian picture you have posted and picture of Chinese Police treating Old Man - actually it was "where a man was stopped for drunk driving. His mother, the middle-aged woman in the picture, knelt down begging the policemen to have mercy on her son. The traffic policemen also got down on their knees and explained to them about traffic rules."

and with regards to the topic I would suggest China to get cordial relation with India and provoking India will do harm to their economy. since they have already created a circle of enmity around them by forcing their neighboring countries to move towards US.

Despite their differences, just keep in mind that both China and India are taking steps to resolve their border disputes without resorting to war, and that their bilateral trade is growing rapidly. Those considerations will all play an important role in any future considerations when policies are being updated. Nothing is ever constant in international geopolitics. Ever.

That's a well planned Pakistan-centric policy by China and may be Russia. China seems very angry since it discovered Indian spy in Baluchistan .
Oh yeah if not for the spy, there would have been hugs and kisses!
NSG or No NSG we get all the access so why worry about it. Uranium trade is already taking place, nuclear reactors will be sold. pakistan is the sole loser as they have to trade only with china that too behind the doors.

Get a load of this guy , all talk with zero accuracy about what he's talking about . Last I checked the poverty line in India was 123INR/day .

saying China is democracy is like saying cats are dogs . Fact is China has one of the largest poverty in the world.
Oh? The poverty line in India is 123 rupees? You are lying or the Indian media was lying? According to UN statistics about a third of the poor live in India. India in 2012, 1.4 million children under 5 years old, the death toll in the world... China's poverty line is not the same as India. At present China for $2.2 a day poverty line. In fact to the Chinese speaking, monthly income of less than 3000 RMB is poor... What you said, China's largest poverty. Which international data comes from?

About China's democracy. In China. Anyone breaking the law will be arrested. In 2011, for example, the general's son suspected rape. The police received a report, arrested just 12 hours after the general's son. Final punishment is 10 years in prison. In 2015, we have the Internet to report 180000 officials. There are more than 20000 officials were arrested. More than 60000 officials were expelled from the government... India How?

.
Is that why we are going off topic in this thread? :D
It's very relevant, US follows might is right rule. NSG was created right after Indian nuclear tests and now that US feels it can use India as it's pawn against China, the same NSG wants to embrace India. See the hypocrisy!!!

*Pakistan* is not saying anything either. Its a former ambassador giving his personal opinion. Maybe read next time?

But the thread is about Pakistan claiming that China will not allow India to enter the NSG, despite there being no evidence that China has ever said that.
