China vows to stand by with Sri Lanka

The Chinese government had said it would stand by Sri Lanka in achieving the tasks of reconciliation and reconstruction adding that it had full confidence in the capability of the government and the people of Sri Lanka to resolve its own issues.

The Foreign Ministry said Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi made these observations when External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris briefed his counterpart in detail about Sri Lanka’s position on a range of issues connected with the Darusman Report, in Beijing yesterday.

Minister Peiris had briefed the Chinese Foreign Minister on the work of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission and initiatives on the part of the Inter-Agency Advisory Committee appointed by the Government of Sri Lanka.

The Foreign Ministers noted that the bilateral relationship between the two countries is extremely warm and cordial.

Prof. Peiris emphasized that Sri Lanka would continue to uphold the ‘One China Policy’ which has been a consistent feature of the country’s foreign policy. He congratulated China on the heights of irreversible progress and prosperity which she had attained.

The Foreign Minister of China expressed his government’s appreciation of the accomplishments of President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government in eradicating terrorism in Sri Lanka and putting the country on the track of rapid economic development. He invited President Rajapaksa to visit the People’s Republic of China.

Minister Peiris, referring to China’s contribution to the economic development of Sri Lanka, expressed his appreciation of the generous assistance by China in financing the Hambantota Port Development Project, the Mattala Airport, the Puttalam Coal Power Project and the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway. The two Ministers, while noting that funding for several road development and reconstruction projects in the North and South of Sri Lanka have already been finalized, discussed arrangements proposed by Sri Lanka for Hambantota Harbour Phase II and the Matara – Kataragama New Railroad Extension.

Well.well. well....... and see who is attesting the fact here.......
I will take the same as granted if it comes from the mouth of Srilankan Predisent who spent 3 days in India for support before the final take on LTTE.
I dont even like to mention the amount of amount of mil support we provided and as a retaliation we had to loose one of the prime minister in a suicide blase what was recently apolised.


There is a reason why only specific countries have been deserted by a manjority of nations on this planet. I hope your are educated enough to dig the news and reports on those specific countries and their blood thirsty rulers.

for the millionth time, India is non-aligned, it only does things on its own behalf, but not due to repercursions due to the alignment with either west or soviets. It only does what is best for the nation. Not becos some ho chi mincho or tom dick harry has tied a friendship band around its wrist.
we are strong enough to stand by ourself and not living at the others footsteps and begging for survival of the nation.

I will just stay quiet if Rajapaksa says that India has done nothing to take down LTTE. Unfortunately he wont. Becos he is the one who begged for the support of Indians to take on some rebel outfits in the name of LTTE sadly of Tamil origin.

If India was one of those who boast about brotherhood, then India by default has to act on behalf of LTTE insead of Lanka, instead it hellped lanka militarily and gifted( means not selling them )as many equipment like radars and patrol boats to take on LTTE.

Frankly there are 3 versions of this saga. If one being western, and other being Indian third being from people obessed with India.

Do you have any idea why India itself has to go angainst 80 million of its own Tamil population? Because it choose to go the peacefull way but not the terrorising way unlike some neighbours follow.

For past 30 years, we have seen enough blood, due to India’s earlier actions against Sri Lanka.

India can make us bleed, again and again. But death comes to everyone. This is something that India should realize.
