. . . .
Since man does not live by bread alone, I l request you to compile some "soft" data as well.

Example: Index of Individual liberty

India : 49
China : 132!

Source : Rankings: The 2006 State of World Liberty Index: Free People, Free Markets, Free Thought, Free Planet

Soft data? Isn't it kind of oxymoron? Take for example "liberty," what's the definition and measurement of liberty? Is anarchy the best? If not, how much control should government have? What if some people prefer to have more government control than individual freedom? You know I am too lazy to process so many news or my brain will explode! and I need some authoritative sources to tell me what I should trust! Etc, etc, that's just my random babbling, food for thought.

In summary, measurement of liberty is as accurate and subjective as measurement of beauty. It belongs to pageant and entertainment.

. .
We move slow and steady like my avatar but we will get there.

. . .
Also, the quality of life index:

Rather surprising that inspite of China's GDP etc being much higher, the quality of life is very similar:

China : Rank 60
India : Rank 73

If you talk about social index, BD surpluses India in many areas. 1 eg:
life expectancy overall:

India:65
Bangladesh:70

even though bangladesh economy not even close to Indian economy.

. . .
Well, the ultimate Goal of life is to have a happy and contented existence, and not just obsession with shiny toys:

Happiness index:(Happy planet Index)

India : 32 ( Bangladesh and Pakistan are even better at 11 and 16)

China : 70!

If you talk about social index, BD surpluses India in many areas. 1 eg:
life expectancy overall:

India:65
Bangladesh:70

even though bangladesh economy not even close to Indian economy.

I agree, BD has done better in many areas and we in India do recognize that.

.
Guys forget everything else, does india have enough sanitation for its people? Not for even half of it. That's shameful for a country like india.

.
And of course, Freedom! I know the Chinese have risen over such insignificant issues. But real humans like to have freedom too.
