China Toughens Its Restrictions on Use of the Internet

China internet censorship is enacted against US propaganda who love to spread rumors and call for riots in China. Of course US is unhappy for their own interest and wrote something bad in nytimes about China internet. Twisting the fact from national-defense problem to people-freedom and human-rights.

The real face of internet freedom in US revealed during 9/11, where terrorists around the world use internet to organize their attacks. When national defense is disturbed, US is no different from China. So did UK, when London Riot happened.

Taiwan too, except Taiwan government don't have ability to do so.

Wow you really are easily brainwashed.

Some sort of rstriction is good. but to ban those sites which give constructive suggestion is outrageous. its like children giving exam a ban.

.
In other words, China network is enough freedom in previously, when you see the news, you do not consider it?

Wow you really are easily brainwashed.

You humble, he is certainly not as good as you at this point.

When the website owner is not willingly to cooperate and respect local law, the best solution is to ban it. Many of these website owners think they play hero by promoting anti-Chinese and call for bloody riots on the street.

This is too exaggerated for actual life.

Internet can not be censored and any law which can not be implemented is a big mistake because it cheapens the authority. Many Chinese here are tech savvy, I wonder why they don't see internet censorship as a futile effort?

(Post is from the perspective of censorship generally, not the above case).
Because China has seen what had happened during previous color revolution in other countries where internet is used to incite unrest.
Most seasoned Chinese internet surfers know ways to circumvent the firewall and if one do not know how, there are plenty of others that would teach you how, all you have to do is ask.
But China would still ban internet sites that China considered unfriendly and has proven unwilling to take health of Chinese civil order into their consideration (or suspected to actively promote civil unrest). The purpose is to delay those internet sites' mob effect.
Much like if a person shout "fire" in a crowed theater, it could caused panic and is harmful to health of public. If the government can make the sound/voice of "fire" be delayed and required the listeners to make an effort to hear it, the chances of panic would have been reduced.
Why England shut down social network during England riot in 2011? Because of the possibility of further escalation by spreading rumor and organization through internet.
China do not want what happen in England happen to China. If those sites considered dangerous are unwilling to cooperate, China would just block them.
It is presumptuous to consider mainland Chinese to be less inform of the outside world because of the blockage. In fact, I would say that most mainland Chinese has a better knowledge of the outside world then the other way around. The reason is because Chinese would actively seek and inform each other about the outside world partly because they are curious and partly is cultural (Chinese like to compare with their peer to gauge their standing. I think they are slowly making the Indian in PDF acting this way too). Also Chinese nowadays has more opportunity to travel abroad and learn more about other countries.

I ask you, do you think the United States has no Internet censorship, right?

Also, at least you have a clear explanation, to which Chinese leaders, what time?

Prior to speaking with TSG, Melen said he had been contacted by FBI agents in Austin and New Jersey, where his hosting business is located. At 2:40 PM today, Melen deleted Stack's web site at embeddedart.com. He replaced it with a statement noting that, "This web site has been taken offline due to the sensitive nature of the events that transpired in Texas this morning and in compliance with a request from the FBI."

.
another point is: how weak of the government of China!!!! The government want put some pressure on internet, it must legislate one law, and explain that the law don't affect on exposing corruption,
30 years ago, if government want to do some thing, just issuing an order is enough

I know since you live in china you would not know that every premier from china that has visited the US has had the press Q&A in the US, banned from being shown in China.

And what is that link you posted? That is not censorship, it is request made - a request that does not have to be followed or else you thrown into labor camps. Again! please don't compare us to your brainwashing govt.

as i explained above, you need to read and comprehend what is in that article. that is not censorship forced upon anyone. Even given that it was a site that advocated killing the IRS. You are such sheep that you think rest of the world or at least we are like you  perhaps that what your govt taught you but it not true.

I'm all for you guys being censorsed...I say censor and put RFID tags on all Chinese, even the ones who live in other countries so you even control them there. I am pro china in this endevor

The Chinese boys here know that the way China is, who else besides dictatorships want to be like China? Between China and North Korea? Then yes, by all means, make China a model. But the issue is about political oppression and censorship and no one want to use China as a model when they either can use the US and Europe as models to aspire to, or they are experiencing those freedoms and use China as a model on how NOT to live. That means the only way they can make China palatable, at least to the gullibles, is to strain definitions, contexts, and eventually their own credibility, on what is 'censorship' in the US. They want to bring the US down to China's level. The sad part for them is that they know within their hearts that for themselves they want to have the full measure of freedoms and rights they see Americans enjoy.
