China to supply FC-1/JF-17 fighters to Azerbaijan

Potential market? Russia dosen't sell us any expensive equipment. Because its allied to Armenia.

West (Nato) neither are positive about the sell of equipment, reason being Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. There are kinda embargo on us. So only markets left to us are Ukraine, Israel etc...

Not to be offensive, it is really good but we wouldn't go after JF-17 if we had better choices.

Brother,
I would not say JF-17 is a bad Option for AzAf, there are further Developments with Stealth Characteristics in progress. It is also possible to Install NATO compatible Equipment on JF-17, this is Important for joint Operations with Turkey. For example, AzAf JF-17 can use Target Data from turkish MESA AEW &C Aircraft, which are patrolling close to turkish - armenian Border in a Case of War. So it's possible for Turkey to give indirect Intelligence Support to Azerbaijan.

.
But Azerbaijan's order may have to wait for the time being, till Chinese engine doesn't comes into action, as Russia may not like its engined aircraft getting exported to one of its potential markets.

Thought China has already received permission to re-export the RD-93 to 6 other countries! ??

. .
The Russian Federal Military Technology Cooperation Service has permitted China to re-export Russian RD-93 fighter jet engines as part of FC-1 Chinese-Pakistani planes to six countries, including Algeria, which, until now, has only bought Russian jets. Besides Pakistan and Algeria, the countries that will receive the planes are Egypt, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.

Well as per my info, Azerbaijan's pilots have looked into the JF-17, and they were pretty excited and can't wait to get their hands on the bird and see it with their own national flag. And i believe they checked out the aircraft here in Pakistan. May be they don't wanna do the contract with China due to the Russian factor. Plus Pakistan has the full rights to market and book orders for this aircraft, so no issue to be seeing that why Azerbaijan would not have signed contract with Pakistan.

And can you tell me of the better options that you guys have ?? Russians don't sell it to you, westerns powers have kind of sanctions on you, then what other options do you guys have been left with ??

Like said earlier, the deal was signed with Pakistan most likely, not China. But don't know, lets wait and see.

Like F-16, Gripen-39 and Su-30...I hope when we resolve our NK conflict, we will start to westernize our airforce. We needed a multirole aircraft and that is JF-17. We have Mig-29, Su-25, Su-24 etc...But no multirole aircraft. So a good choice and will definetly do its task.

Nobody except high officials from china or pakistan can tell us what share the countries have in the aircraft. So drop it...

As for manufacturing, its gonna be china. Pakistan also get the parts from china. It does not manufacture parts but buy them from china. only selected parts are manufactured. china manufactures the major part of the plane. even china buys some equipment.

Pakistan will initially produce 50% of the aircraft locally, progressively increasing to 100%. Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) formally opened their JF-17 production facility at PAC Kamra factory on 6 April 2005. Production will start in 2005 and the first four locally-built aircraft will be handed over to the PAF in December 2006, another four will be delivered by March 2007. Full rate production is planned to start in 2007 turning out 20 aircraft per year.
Earlier news reported 16 aircraft to be delivered in 2006, if this is still true, 12 will be produced by CAC of which four will be delivered to Pakistan.
The initial production aircraft will probably feature a Chinese radar which would enable use of the Chinese BVR SD-10 missile. But Pakistan plans to put the GRIFFO radar in the initial production aircraft for evaluation and testing of the avionics with the GRIFFO.
