Most of the Chinese invest is by government, seldom of them is from private company, because the return is too low and slow, and not safe
Our company have branchs in parkistan and India, from India we make money, from parkistan we lose money
Heavy invest is just a gesture to help the old poor friends, but you guys never truly know, think parkistan is a good place for investment.
Funny

then we have bharatis who spend most of the day here trying to convince Pakistanis how our country is sold to China and that how much heavy returns we are offering to you guys..

btw its PAKISTAN.

China have invest in parkistan too much, it is not just China's duty to lead parkistan out of poverty, wish more countries join in

China is not doing it for Pakistan. China is doing it for $50 billion. It is Pakistan money that is being spent on the hydro power project. It is loan that Pakistan will pay by installment.

If China didn't think Pakistan can repay, then China wouldn't have done it. Don't assume China is doing it for humanitarian reasons while charging the loans with hefty interest rates.

China should focus its attention on Pakistan's agriculture industry too as 42% of Pakistan's economy is still dependent on agriculture. Although, the proposed $50bn investment in water resources will increase arable area significantly but the new technology like drip, sprinkler irrigation on a massive scale; better pest & weather resistant crops, and newer farming machinery can bring significant improvement in the agriculture industry. I think agriculture industry is largely ignored by China in Pakistan nor our leadership trying to lure them to invest in it. Similarly, mining industry and hydrocarbons/petroleum reserves exploration are also neglected. What if huge hydrocarbon reserves are found in FATA, Baluchistan or Arabian sea, it will end China's concerns to import oil from Gulf countries. More importantly, the recent study by USAID shows that Pakistan has large reserves of shale gas and oil (The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has estimated shale gas at 586 Tcf gas reserves).

Replace "China" with "Pakistan" in that sentence. China hamara Maai-baap nahe jo hamare har masle ka berra utaaye ga. Allah kisi kay halat tab tak nahe badalta jab tak wo khud apny halaat na badlna chaahe.

sir am asking the name of your company and @RealNapster has asked something about business.

Chor yaar. abhi roony lag jaaye ga. :D

Well its do or die situation for pakistan anyway, its better to choose China after WB, ADB refused them or die by lack of water. How much time could these projects take, i guessing 5-10 yrs. Interest rate or any more details?

All energy projects under CPEC are under Build operate and transfer basis. There are no loans on any energy projects which is being built under CPEC. Most loans are being taken for improvement of railway and road infrastructure.

Don't make others feel sick, learn to be grateful
No money is sitting idle

I will be if its free, check the return Chinese companies are making on this investment, its business

It is pure business, nothing personal despite having the strategic friendship.

The Chinese are investing in Pak and will continue to invest in Pak for their benefit. As a result Pak will see an economic boom.

Nobody is doing Pak a favour here!

Pak Friends must keep their chins up and shoulders straight. Pak is no begger.

The good Chinese are investing not only for business benefits but also for their strategic advantages... Pak is making China a two ocean power.

And China is investing in Pak for economic growth and rapid industrialisation. Win-Win for both Friends.

Those who like to belittle Pak or wish Pak to become subserviant, can wish whatever... the only threat to Pak is the incompetence and corruption of the ruling elite. Pak was NEVER POOR. Neither is Pak Poor now.

30 years ago China was poor. Look at China now!

It would be instructive for some hypernationalist Chinese Friends to look at those Facts that Pak did for China all through the decades! Time to be grateful also, dear Chinese friends.

Kindly, don't expect Pak to be your humble...serv... Pak's are crazy as they come and don't take insults kindly. Paks NEVER forget. Paks can pretend to be dead, but they never forget...Paks pass on the slights from father to son, from mother to daughter.

As things stand... the first wave of investments will go beyond 100 billion mark. Mainly by Chinese SOEs. After the establishement of infrastructure and powerplants... Industrial parks will see massive investements from Chinese companies and other countries. NO Charity again. Pure business.

Easily a total investment will go beyond 250 billions in a decade plus. This NOT a huge investment for a coutry the size of Pakistan.
Even the internal Pak market with its rapidly growing middle class is enough to sustain a 1,5 decade of rapid growth. If Paks can plan economic miracle for South Korea surely Paks are neither stupid nor poor. Corruption has been the cancer for Pak for too long now....

Good things to those who wait.

It is unimportant whether this news is true or false. This investment trend will continue regardless.

@The Eagle @Horus gents offensive, false flagged posts need your kind attention.

@Shotgunner51 my dear friend... I am Always delighted to see Paks Always standing with Chinese. Always!

Just look at the indian section... how Paks Always support your country and your countrymen, and Paks get accused everytime for being Chinese cheerleaders by the indians.

Such Friendship, such devotion needs to be honoured by all Chinese posters.

Pak might be 'poor' or whatever... Chinese posters must at least honour what have Pak done for China even when China was very very poor. I am sure you know the history of Sino-Pak relations.

Something to reflect and consider. In the long run... hypernationalisam Always comes back to haunt... wisdom is to follow the Confusian Values. I leave it upto you to do what you feel fit.

Even I despite being a Dutch National has been very very supportive of China! Loosing friends is not good for business I guess!

@Kaptaan my dear Brother, I guess all things are good for Pak. IN the end Pak will have to stand on its own two feet. When our Pak will let go of its devotional fever and put Pak First... can you imagine how Pak will extract Respect!

Time for both of us to help revive Pak National Awareness, at least on PDF. When you are free after summer we will ACT in a more organised manner. In a way those who insult Pak...are actually doing us a Great Favour!

 cutting water off won't help on India. The Chinese will cut it off from India and will tunnel the water into Pakistan. There is a reason why this massive investment is ONLY being done around the Indus as the Chinese have total control over it, not India. It comes from China.

Second, if it ever got to a point where anyone decided to cut off water for a nuke power. God help this region. These macho-man statements only look good on paper and on tv for a few weeks or months. Then they die down when the fools hearing them, again decides to vote for the same idiots making these "cutting water off" statements!

Lol you're misunderstanding the point, first no one said about cutting off waters, second why would China waste their money to channel all water to pak and make themselfs in firing range of India?? Lol just by one statement of PM Modi pak got too much scared & is becoming more dependent on China, well i'm happy for pak and support your second point too.

some good education for indians

Modi blew it big time on China policies

According to Pakistani press, one highlight of the participation by PM Nawaz Sharif at the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing (May 14-15) will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries opening the door to massive Chinese investment – to the tune of $50 billion – for the development of the North Indus River Cascade in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region. This will be Chinese investment over and above the $46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

A whopping 40000 MW of electricity can be produced in the region known as the North Indus River Cascade, which stretches from Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan and runs through Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as far as Tarbela. The stunning development catapults Pakistan as by far the number one recipient of Chinese investment in infrastructure development. The geopolitical significance is at once obvious.

Beijing, which went the extra league in the recent months to convince India that the latter’s concerns over sovereignty relating to the CPEC are unwarranted, has apparently given up and decided to simply ignore Delhi’s protestations and proceed with the CPEC projects in a big way in Gilgit-Baltistan. It is a political and diplomatic snub by China, conveying a frank message to the Modi government to “get lost”.

The Modi government is now left with an option to carry on regardless along the path of confrontation and rivalry with China, or, alternatively, to see the writing on the wall and get adjusted to the fait accompli with a sense of stoicism and sense of modesty. The latter course is not easy since the “core constituency” of the BJP will mutiny and the RSS will rap on the government’s knuckles. However, China seems to estimate that it is in India’s DNA that sooner rather than later, it will feel the intensity of regional (and global) isolation – especially now that all of India’s neighbours, including Nepal, have joined the OBOR – and make atonement.
Meanwhile, the announcement in Washington on Thursday that President Donald Trump has nominated his special assistant and the point person on Asia in the National Security Council Matt Pottinger to represent him at the weekend event in Beijing must come as shock to the Indian foreign-policy elites. The US-China détente that is unfolding under Trump’s stewardship makes complete nonsense of Modi government’s China policies that are tied to the apron strings of the Obama administration’s pivot strategy in Asia. The US and China made a joint announcement on Thursday regarding the first tranche of policy decisions on trade issues envisaged under the so-called Initial Actions of the U.S.-China Economic Cooperation 100-Day Plan that was agreed upon by Trump and President Xi Jinping at their Mar-a-Lago meeting in Florida in April.
The White House feels delighted that the relationships Trump has built with President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders “are clearly paying dividends.” The announcement covers areas such as agricultural trade, financial services and energy to boost economic cooperation. Amongst other things, China will receive imports of beef and LNG from the US, while the latter agrees to apply the same bank prudential supervisory and regulatory standards to Chinese banking institutions as to other foreign banking institutions.
The US Commerce Department announced on Thursday that Washington “recognizes the importance” of China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and is therefore deputing a delegation to attend the forum in Beijing. It cannot be lost on the Trump administration that OBOR is shaping up as a new vector of globalization and the US will be the loser if it stays out of the new supply chain. Ning Jizhe, China’s vice-minister of the National Development and Reform Commission said in Beijing on Saturday, “Chinese outbound investment is forecast to total $600 billion to $800 billion over the next five years, a fairly large proportion of which will go into markets related to the Belt and Road Initiative.” This compares with the $60 billion China has so far invested in OBOR projects.
All in all, Modi government’s China policies are turning out to be very short-sighted and based on vanities and prejudices carried forward from another era that are hopelessly unsustainable today. It was possible to have rationally analysed that the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing will turn out to be a seminal event in global politics. But Modi decided to boycott it. The sad part is the sophistry in the Indian argument. The plain truth is that in the emerging scenario in J&K, India should be more than satisfied with a solution to the Kashmir problem without having to redraw territorial boundaries and which would somehow legitimise the Line of Control as the international border.
Indira Gandhi knew this home truth; Rajiv Gandhi knew it; Narasimha Rao knew it; AB Vajpayee most certainly knew it. But Modi somehow doesn’t get it. The Modi government dreams up that all of Greater Kashmir stretching up to Wakhan Corridor belongs to India. A foreign policy based on such poppycock does not serve the country’s interests. The Modi government lends money to Vietnam to buy patrol boats to stand up to China, while President Tran Dai Quang attends the OBOR event in Beijing and is feted by President Xi.The international community will only regard our leaders as a frivolous lot with a provincial mind. Read a candid essay, here, by Prem Shankar Jha on what OBOR could have been and should have been for India’s development agenda.
