China - The world's hotbed of innovation?

where did those figures come from? How did that writer find such detailed figures of those two empires 2000 years back?that's the funniest story I ever know.and why not compare Han and Roman empire with Korean tribes or clans at that time?

People posted a lot of news about it in this topic:
Chinese Economy News & Updates
http://www.defence.pk/forums/china-far-east/90375-chinese-economy-news-updates.html

And not forget Taiwan role too. Taiwanese play a huge role in the IT world too. :)

I asked for a specific example....not economy news thread.

Learn history please. You didn't know that Manchu Qing government ban gunpowder in China?

Yes, and? When was that? Were there any cave dwelling fair skinned people around then? No?

China do had their own politics and business model. That became a conflict with US who want everyone follow their model.

I see, so China has troubles keeping up with the innovation based on intellectual property model. So nice of you to come clean about it.

China is still in the developing stage and their intellectual development is still at early stage. China can't follow US and Europe standard. Theoretically China government can do that, but they won't, because it can kill a lot of companies in China. It's a double-edge sword.

Again, thank you for admitting cheating is the norm in Chinese business culture.

Why carrying a EU and US flag an an ethnic Indian?at least you should show your Indian origin in one flag.

Indians cant own you like i am about to.....

It's all about how much money you put in research and development, you put in more money, you get more resarch results, sooner or later,it's always like this ,everything boils down how much money you spend,be it in military, education, infrastructure or scientific innovation,it's always like that.

On that list, if you put all EU countries (minus Switzerland and EU's own separate research budget), the sum is bigger then China's.
That is, more money is being spent here, while already being in a superior, more technologically advanced position then China, and all that in the biggest crisis since WWII.
I look forward in observing your ways how you will try to pull something good about China's position from this analysis of the source you posted yourself.

There are sources below the graphs and figures, and my my, they seem pretty reputable. You're in for a good fight trying to disprove that.
Should also help debunk the myth of how global economic balance is "returning" to Asia and specifically China as you guys like to parrot so much.

@post #106

That is Eurocentric biased analysis.

It's barely what you'd call an "analysis". The person who wrote it goes by the name Tibet Libre.
He got this from the following website: The pre-industrial economies of Western Europe and China - General Discussion - China History Forum, Chinese History Forum

He quotes passages from sources that are not readily available and I can't verify. Unless someone wants to bother spending money to fully verify those sources, I wouldn't put much though into that wall of text and will assume it's there for something other than informative purposes.

I'm not saying the information is true or false but both posters are clearly biased and the information should be taken with a grain of salt.

What? Roman Empire >>>> Han Dynasty?

You people need to call Siegecrossbow over as it seems that he argues a lot along the line in Sinodenfence .

It is unquestionable that Qin Dynasty, let alone more powerful Han, was leagues ahead of its Roman Empire counterpart in almost all spheres one care to compare, being military technologies, general economics size and prosperity, general level of civil technologies, and I suspect GDP per head also.

Qin had much bigger population than Roman (fact!) , could afford much bigger army (fact!) , supported by much bigger economy ( free peasants-landlords structured economy Vs. still slaves-noble owners one, fact!) and much better civil technologies playing with much more advanced irrigation technologies in agriculture (fact!) , with world’s first steel-making at its late stage that the Western Europe was even unaware of for god’s sake (fact! Just take a peek at what Terracotta Army reveals)… with specialised world’s first and largest mass production lines humming of porcelain, silk, tea, …etc. Han Empire was even more powerful, was de facto “the USA” at its time.

However, it’s quite funny to see “Korean” quoted some nameless “scholars” from some unheard of and definitely questionable “sources”, to put it mildly, telling us that Roman Empire was far ahead of Qin and Han in GDP, even with already known much smaller population, less advanced overall civil and military technologies. How could that happen?

Indians cant own you like i am about to.....

....

this Indian immigrant sounds quite amusing

As I said....where is the earliest proven gun (not stories...actual artifacts...you guys have claims of flight from a throne covered in birds)

Haha, I had a look at the original thread in the Chinese history forum.

The guy who produced the data simply selected data that supported his argument. Even comparing figures from different historians who used completely different measurement standards. You can't do that for any sort of comparative study.

That ridiculously low outlier for iron production is an example.
Comparing a low-end estimate to a high-end estimate is intellectual dishonesty at its best.

Swordfish? Was your kitten soup poisoned? What do swordfish have to do with proof of innovation?
