China Squashes Attempted Tunisia-Style Revolt the JASMINE REVOLUTION

I'm actually still not convinced by the supposed advantages of democracy. Sure we may gain some efficiency from a less corrupt and better supervised government but how's that comparing to the efficiency lost from potential political gridlocks and such?

Maybe we could try a hybrid regime with a winner-takes-all approach for elections?

It would be a mistake to think democracy can solve problems with transparency and corruption.

.
Maybe should have one party, but a panel of positions elected at once for decision making. (lol like the round-table knights, but without a King.)

The general direction taken should be decided by a larger comittee. With the exact policy implementation decided by the central comittee. It would be a compromise between complete gridlock due to large decision making bodies, and a single person who would otherwise become too powerful.

One of the things about popular elections is that there are people who can always be bought. And if you are rich enough to start with you can rig an election - and then once you are in position just reel the money back in - press repeat!

Long live the Jasmine Revolution in CHina......the ppl of China need democracy. The government must be held accountable to and for the ppl!

The ppl of CHina are not happy as you seem. Otherwise you would be living in CHina retard if it was so great! The Jasmine Revolution is just a tip of more to come. People want governments to be accountable to their actions. People want their voices to be heard, not swept under the carpet. This is an important reminder to the world that CHina is not as stable as it seems.

The Great American Bubble Machine

The first thing you need to know about Goldman Sachs is that it's everywhere. The world's most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money. In fact, the history of the recent financial crisis, which doubles as a history of the rapid decline and fall of the suddenly swindled dry American empire, reads like a Who's Who of Goldman Sachs graduates.

I recommend Matt Taibbi's book anyone who wants the details of how Goldman Sachs and the rest of the big banks are sucking America dry.
