China Slowly Squeezes Global Carmakers Out of Its Massive Market

China always does, manufacturers always focus on the domestic market first, many of them hate to do imports and exports due to various rules.

China's labor cost is never the cheapest, if labor cost is the main thing, the global supply chain should have left China for at least a decade already.

That's completely none sense, check youtube there are many Chinese hospitals you can see.
Is there anything you think chinese dont have enough(per capita) compared to rest of world ? do they eat enough meat? enough health care equipment ? enough educational software ? enough high end electronics ? enough automobiles per capita.

Thats a good area to focus on - so chinese enjoy high quality living standards.

I am personally sure chinese lack enough air conditioning or heating and maybe not enough air industry as well. I am not sure how automated their agriculture is.

.
I’m not talking about producing, it how it’s implemented. A couple of Chinese born and raised people, who goes back to their cities (one in Fujian and one in Guangzhou) told me of their experience.
This is none sense, air conditioners are so dirt cheap in China, can you tell exactly which hospital in China doesn't have air conditioning, can you give an exact name? only a totally fool will believe this joke.

How much is enough? you are asking a very vague question. besides, are you talking about China as a whole or individual persons?

I think it's too early to celebrate about "squeezing" Western brand cars out. There is still an auto tariff in place that makes foreign cars double the cost to buy in China, putting them at a disadvantage. Let's see how that goes if that tariff drops to 25% instead of 100%. Then we will truly know if domestic cars are competitive or not.

The one hospital I was given some detail about was in Fujian, near Fuzhou (possibly Changle district or a nearby one). It was not that it didn’t have air conditioning at all but it was wasn’t central air conditioning and the hospital was humid inside that the paint was peeling. He is also a medical professional and he feared for the sterility of the patient care areas.

I’m not trying to antagonize or get anyone in trouble, but this is a repeated complaint I hear; that of the quality of the medical care and the desire that it were better.now I have heard health care spending is increasing 11% a year compared to national growth which is not as high, mostly due to an aging population.

One positive thing I heard was from my other colleague, that dialysis was readily (at least in Guangzhou) available in China, and each session costs only about $100 for a 4 hour session (a patient needs 2 sessions of 4 hours each per week). $800-900 a month is a lot but it would costs a lot more in the US if it were not fully covered by a Federal health care program.

The writing is on the wall for traditional car makers who have not taken EVs seriously. It would be no surprise if their marketshare dries up.

Even in the US traditional car companies are in trouble.
Tesla is about to be the Apple of the car industry while everybody else is a Nokia.

Meh Tesla's build quality is still mediocre at best and they're 9 years late with their self-drive promise. They're only great at battery which other automakers are quickly finding the appropriate supplies to catch up with. With Musk acting like a trolling shitlord and his Twitter fiasco, Tesla doesn't shine like it used to.

We will know in 2025 whether Tesla can sustain its current lead as traditional automakers go all in on electric.

Trade between China and west will be more skewed in the future, western countries for decades used their massive car exports to China to help them reduce some deficit with China, but now even this strength is gone, China now doesn't have much to buy from the west even if she wants, it'll be quite a struggle for China to find anything that China still can buy from the west.

I guess the west should now start to shift completely to agriculture, farming and animal husbandry, China may be still willing to buy farm products in the foreseeable future, US, Canada and Australia now are like farmlands for China.
Anything china wants to buy from the west is sanctioned anyways so there really is nothing.

Late or not they actually have 100's of thousands of cars on the road right now with the self-driving beta enabled while nobody else is even close...and look what they just announced:

Tesla Said To Finally Begin Large-Scale FSD Testing in China Soon

Which hospital? hospitals upgrades very rapidly in China, now even hospitials in Xinjiang and Tibet are world top class, if you can give the name of that hospital I can quickly check for verifiaction.

Is there anything that west can use to blackmail China? Any weak points? If not then China is on its way to the top.
Some fields China lags behind west: semi-conductor and related equipment, bio tech and drugs, high precision CNC machine tools, basic softwares, bearings, large passenger plane, laboratory apparatus....

Anyway all above fields China has domestic suppliers. Just can not compete with west's so far.

I don’t know the name of the hospital. It was a hospital very close to Fuzhou (an urbanized area with high rise apartments buildings that use to be a village area probably about 10-15 years, just east of the city), that what I recall my colleague saying.

If as you say they are upgrading rapidly, it might be an issue that has already been addressed. I’m only relaying the account I have been told by a person that is from there, grew up there, and his visit was recent (but pre-Covid).

I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble. It was an observation and an account of my colleague.

His visit was not 15 years ago, it’s was just before they pandemic . What he explained was his village was a village 15 years ago and now is basically all high rise apartments, which acknowledges the progress China has made. The state of the hospital disappointed him and gave him some concern, which shows in this regard he would have hoped there was more progress.

The fact that China has made so much progress but this issue was still there, similar to he recalled from the days of his own childhood, gave him concern.

What I think he was implying was more could be done in the healthcare sector but has been done yet, that’s all.
