China Says Navy Ship Hits Rocks In Disputed Waters

. .
Just shows how China has become so aggresive and greedy, this frigate was only 80 kilometers or less than 50 miles from the shores of southern Palawan island when it ran aground ...

Nay!

Sounds like China is going to permanatly occupy the reef by learning the trick from the Philippines when you stranded your naval ship then occupied Second Thomas Shoal.

...

Another navy ship remains grounded at Second Thomas Shoal, a another disputed shoal in the Spratly Islands Spratly Islands, group of about 100 low islands and coral reefs in the central South China Sea, intersecting busy shipping lanes. The whole group is claimed by China, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and parts are claimed by Malaysia and the Philippines. . The ship has been there since May 9.

The Vietnamese did the same trick.

We'll see.

Now we have a permanent structure over there, HAH!

This is one of the oldest ships in PLAN inventory, and it "accidentally" hit rocks.

.
Accidental or not, we should leave the frigate there as a permanent structure. Of course, simply chase away any Philippines ships that interferes with our "rescue".

That "rescue" is going to take decades.

. .
Start to pour sand, rock and cement around the ship, and you will have an artificial island under PLAN Navy's command.

China navy ship runs aground
14-07-2012

The defence ministry says a Chinese naval frigate has run aground while patrolling disputed waters in the South China Sea. A statement posted on the ministry's website says the ship was on "routine patrol" when it became stranded near Half Moon Shoal in the Spratly Islands. The shoal is off the Philippine island of Palawan. The statement said no one was injured or killed in the accident and the navy was organising a rescue.
The Philippines said it was trying to confirm the reports and would offer assistance to any vessel in distress. "We have to find out why that ship was there, why it ran aground, whether it was an accident or whatever," Defence Secretary Voltaire Gazmin told reporters. "If we have to offer assistance to help them get out of that place, we will assist them," he added.

I wonder what the OP trying to convey here. Obviously it was a small mishap where no one got hurt. Is there a need to open a thread and tell the world every time a soldier misfire a weapon?

indeed!

the area is extremely dangerous for ships with heavy tonnage because of so many coral reefs there, and it is quite uncharted!

. . .
Yes so embarrassing, because something like this NEVER happens. Guess what now? China will now need to send a 'rescue team' to the area, which is inside what the Philippines claim as its territory. The rescue team may be escorted by a fleet of warships because you never know what will happen in enemy waters.
:azn:

If the rescue is successful, perhaps we will have another ship get stuck near Manila. ;)

You just nailed it, they won't use the precious Type 052C to perform that kind of task. :coffee:
