China says 2 pilots died in aircraft carrier tests

.
.
If the two pilots were martyred during the AC training mission, then I don't think why China won't mention it.

However, it has been shown that these two pilots were martyred during other mission, and it was a typo made by the foreign media.

They weren't "martyred." o_O The PLA isn't ISIS for cripes sake. They died serving their country. That's a statement that honors their memories without this "martyred" bullcrap.

Sacrifice itself for serving its country can also be defined as the "martyr" in the Chinese definition.

BTW, these two pilots didn't die during the AC training mission, but in something else. It was merely a misinterpretation by the foreign media.

Sacrifice meaning they risked their lives to do the test. Chinese english language media will not report anything that is not reported on local media. The words they use in english language media are totally the wrong meaning which lead to misunderstanding.

LOL..thats weird as that'll mean China only trained 2 pilots..right??I think you should go to the english class.don't know anything about local media, but in every corner of this earth, meaning of "Sacrifice" is same.don't know what is the fact.but I posted the news from Xinhua's english version.I don't think they make this kind of errors.

but then again, there is nothing to be ashamed of.Carrier takes life more than just frequently.and China is the newest member who joined Carrier club.expect higher casualty in this training as Carrier Landing is considered to be one of the most dangerous job even now.

see this video...its from US Navy..

BEIJING (AP) — Two Chinese test pilots were killed during development of the country's first aircraft carrier fighter wing, state media said, in a rare admission of problems with the hugely popular naval program.

The admission came in a report by the official Xinhua News Agency saying President Xi Jinping had signed an order awarding honorary titles to all pilots in the first squadron to conduct take-off and landing tests aboard the Liaoning, China's only aircraft carrier.

"Two test pilots of the squadron sacrificed their lives during the tests," the report said. No details were given.

The original Xinhua report ran Aug. 28, but went largely overlooked at the time. It was picked up by U.S. defense blogs and linked Friday to the blog of the U.S. Naval Institute.

Carrier flight operations are inherently risky, and the loss of two pilots is far from unusual. However, China's military still operates under a shroud of secrecy and no deadly accidents relating to the carrier had been reported at the time.

China announced it had begun flight tests on the Liaoning in late 2012, spurring a wave of patriotic pride in the country's growing capabilities. State television ran hours of footage of planes landing and taking off, while Internet users across the country posted photos of themselves recreating the carrier flight crews' "all-clear" signal to the pilot.

Chinese carrier pilots fly the J-15 fighter-bomber, a copy of Russia's Sukhoi Su-33.

China spent a decade refurbishing a derelict Soviet-era carrier bought from Ukraine before commissioning it as the Liaoning in 2012. It is part of a major expansion of the Chinese navy that includes sophisticated new surface ships and submarines. The ship is slower and smaller than U.S. aircraft carriers and doesn't carry as many aircraft.

The Liaoning is still conducting sea trials and Chinese defense officials haven't said when, or even if, it will receive its full complement of aircraft.

On Dec. 5, 2013, a Chinese ship accompanying the Liaoning was involved in a near collision with a U.S. Navy cruiser, the USS Cowpens, when it was operating in international waters in the South China Sea. U.S. Navy officials said the Cowpens maneuvered to avoid the collision, but it marked the two nations' most serious sea confrontation in years.

Rest in peace to the naval aviation members who perished.

Long may their memory live in the minds of all Chinese people.

Beijing Changping Xiaotangshan. Air force aviation museum. Wall of heroes. Martyrs monument.

at the end 2012 November, in the last 60 years, PLAAF lost total 1747 in combat, training, performing various missions. Aviation Museum has the wall reengraved sacrificed personnel list (first moment in 2009 October, the first re engraved in 2010 March, the second amendment re engraved was completed in 2012 October).

They will never be forgotten.

to Chinese members : Don't you have any doubt that there's pilot loss during A/C operation training?
or Chinese want to keep the impression that they are so good that it's totally safe during learning how to operate an A.C by all price?

In my opinion, if China mastered the skills and tech of take off and landing the A.C, they would bring us the video just like what USA showed us on Discovery channel during several decades.

But no one knows exactly, how many pilots could do that on Liaoning, and the training operation seem to be halted on Liaoning.
