December.14 (China Military News reporting by Johnathan Weng) — Recently, a new electronic surveillance ship was launched from one shipyard (probably is No.437 shipyard) of the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Company. The ship is designed by No.708 Institute of CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation). This ship is designed for collecting electronic intelligence (ELINT) off the coast of other countries. This ship is believed to be the successor of previous Type 851 electronic surveillance and missile tracking ship. At present no armament can be found and a huge spherical dome is being built. And it is very strange that one facility like band stand radar installed on the top of the bridge. The ship’s displacement is estimated to be over 6,000 tonnes when being comparing with nearby cargo ship.

We should use this to patrol US's western coast, just like how they always have surveillance ships in the south china sea

it is not in our interests to confront the US in the next 10-20 years.

Its not in China's interest to ever confront the US. The two countries are tie together economically more so than France and Germany. Both should be BFF:china::usflag:

when our per capita GDP reaches half of the amercia one, our economy would be twice as large as the US economy. keep this in mind dude

Well, China's economy could be twice as large as US. But technology wise, US would still be ahead for quite a long time.

happy to see now you admit that your previous post saying "Its not in China's interest to ever confront the US" is not that accurate.

btw, from another aspect, about 15 years ago, when the air force of ROC was still better than the mainland one, we used to have the idea that "as long as the number of our fighters/bombers are larger than the number of your missiles, we will eventually have the sky." this story still mean something in the future, you can keep arguing how fancy the F-22 is, but at the end of day it carries 6 AAM at best. you know what I mean.

True, America should print more of those IOUs for China to buy. Then the US can buy more F-22. But why when neither China nor Russia show that it has any capability to produce genuine 5th generation fighter. Maybe you are right, US should build more F-35s and silent Eagles as these are sufficient to counter existing or planned Russian/Chinese planned fighters or interceptors.

BTW: If I were the Indians here, I would talk about buying silent eages as this would be a game changer. The only way India can counter China is by allowing US to post bases inside India.

Yes...Please...Oh...Please...Oh...Please send this ship over to our side of the world. Keep in mind that ELINT is a two-way street. Not only that, we emit more than China does, and that mean cover for what we can learn FROM observing this ship. Think twice before making this kind of comment.

I agree with Gambit. Sending this ship to western pacific for China is equivalent of how a lot of Indians talk about how India can beat up China. Its a self defeating survey. BTW, US has already cracked the Chinese military and diplomatic encryption, the US coast guards would be ready to take pictures on this ship without invitation if it comes too close:usflag:

allowing US bases in india is suicidal for the nation. nationalists would see this as the most serious insult to their "incredible india" and this could lead to instability of the nation.

:smokin: we should pretend to be business partners in the next 2 decades as usual. once we overtake your economy, we will make the US as our ally, just like how you use Japan now.

It would be the only choice India has if it want to contain China. But you are right, Indians need to get on with reality and their media cannot delude their people any more.
