China’s military white paper plays down dispute with India

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we achieved the greatest MILITARY VICTORY on Earth after WW II.

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we achieve Green Revolution that made us INDEPENDENT in agriculture.

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we made BUDDHA SMILED in Pokhran the First time (only the sixth nation), we were so INSIGNIFICANT that US took a lead to form NSG immediately to deny any nuke tech to India & other nations.

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we became the ONLY nation on Earth to have LEGAL rights to trade in Civilian nuke tech. WITHOUT signing NPT.

We were INSIGNIFICANT when all P-5 nations backed us for UNSC permanent seat (again the only nation to get there support).

We were INSIGNIFICANT when Italians marines were FORCED to return to India.

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we LEASED a nuke sub from Russia (becoming only nation to get a nuke sub from another nation).

We were INSIGNIFICANT when we ....................................... *1000

Actually, they are right - We are INSIGNIFICANT.

Still a long way to go. We can learn a thing or two from our northern neighbor. Off-topic:- My dad was in China in 91, this is what he had to say- the villages there were as lacking in many things as ours were BUT in almost every village there was one thing that stood out, a well appointed and built building which was adequately staffed- guess what that building was- a school. They managed their human resource very efficiently- while people snickered at their lack of emphasis on English in their curriculum- they were busy educating their people and creating a solid base of capable citizens. It corresponds to one of the greatest challenges that we shall face soon with the largest "young population" in the world.

those who call us INSIGNIFICANT have no significant knowledge about us..or else,no sane and knowledgable person in the world will call india insignificant...

No mention of "india" for dispute, no mention of it in the joint military exercises in china's white paper like the Obama Romneys Foreign policy debate where india was not even mentioned, this make it look how insignificant and unimportant india really is.

they are afraid to even take our name.

Latest G.I joe movie mein kaafi saaf saaf dikh gaya tha, ki world kisko significant manta hai aur kisko insignificant.:raise:

Or may be it shows how insignificant and unimportant the border dispute btw India and China is isn't it.

SCS is a core issue for India. India would not accept any aggression by China in SCS, but India would encourage peaceful negotiated settlement.

.
china has vast diplomatic ties too. just like .. professors from many renowned university visit china on monthly basis but in India no one cares about such an initiative which can help building ties, both in economic and even educational.

.
But China should also understand that it is China and Pakistan which forced Indians into, to do or die situation, get the N bomb, explode it, go for ICBMs, submarines, show eyes etc. Had you not attacked in 1948, 1962, had not claimed our territory just to make a Chinese Alaxander the great, or Chinese Hitler, or Chinese jangez Khan, Indians would have not gone for any of such standards. It is China who attacked in 62 though the Indians were not with NATO. It is China and Pakistan who compelled Indians to take such a stand. You will harm Indians , Indians will harm you back and Indians have learnt it well from you only how to harm badly.

Read your own history.

India hosted our largest separatist group in 1959, the Tibetan government in exile. Even though they had just tried to violently overthrow the Chinese government.

Then, as if that was not enough, Nehru rejected Zhou Enlai's offer of mutual recognition of territory, and instead carried out the Forward Policy in 1962, setting up military posts within Chinese territory.

Both of these happened BEFORE the 1962 Sino-Indian War. And the Forward Policy was the trigger that started the war.

Nehru thought that because China was in the middle of our worst famine in history, we would not be able to hit back. Attacking a country in the middle of a famine, and he still lost.

I am sure you have misconception about his policies. He was stupid, not opportunist. Please do go through Indian narrative too. It would give you a better idea.

No Indian denies that they hosted our largest separatist group in 1959, or that Nehru started the Forward Policy against us in 1962.

Both of which happened BEFORE the Sino-Indian War.

This is not denied at all by any Indian, or by any historian anywhere.

It was Nehru who rejected Zhou Enlai's offer to exchange recognition of Aksai Chin for recognition of AP. It was Nehru who instead chose to go for the offensive Forward Policy, setting up military outposts beyond the LoC, starting the war.

In the mistaken belief that China in the middle of the worst famine in our history would not be able to hit back.

I am not the best person to discuss history. But I would still insist that despite knowing the same facts, we still differ on the inferences.

Nehru was a pacifist, of idiotic degree. He made many mistakes, we are still suffering from them. Kashmir for one, China for next. Many more.

According to what I know, Nehru believed Mao accepted Mcmohan line, and thus India's claim over Aksai Chin and AP. He was one of the first to accept China's claim on Tibet. Dalai lama is still considered a religious leader in India, as opposed to a politician. Mao was in wrong impression that he is having any machinations.

Yup that about sums it up perfectly. Education is the key to uplifting ppl so they aren;t misled. Sadly, our gov't and our elected officials knew this back since Independence but never gave enough resources to address this fundamental, urgent issue. What;s sad is that China will look as if they are better than us, when we Indians knew this all along. Our civilization since ancient times, gave education to the highest castes. Isn;t it time for a damn change and allow ourselves to finally correct the rongs of our past? The gov't has talked about this and that, but there is very little action on the ground. Hopefully, this will change soon.

Fair enough.

I was just responding to Screambowl's claim that China "attacked" India because we wanted to "just to make a Chinese Alaxander the great, or Chinese Hitler, or Chinese jangez Khan."

Which is ridiculous. Just look at the timeline, this didn't come out of the blue.
