China’s military white paper plays down dispute with India

Yeah I found that quite strange as well.

The Times of India especially seems to go crazy whenever India is not mentioned in any random Chinese event, yet no one seems to care when our highest leaders Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang come to Indian leaders and talk about improving cooperation?

TOI it seems craves some negative news or comments from China towards India - and China's been disappointing TOI.

No news is as good as Bad news :D

I wonder you follow TOI ;) if you really want to read TOI just read the column "Speaking tree" and throw the paper and buy "Hindu"

I'm talking about the articles that have been posted on this forum.

The one where the ToI was whining about China not mentioning India in one event was very popular and had loads of pages. Not to mention loads of views and comments on the ToI website itself.

Whereas the thread where Li Keqiang said he wanted to take Sino-Indian ties to a "new level" was IGNORED by everyone, and I personally had to manually restart that thread by pointing it out:

http://www.defence.pk/forums/indian...-back-back-visits-boost-india-china-ties.html

But for some reason the people reading these things are drawn to negativity and hostility. No one cares about the good news.

.
Yep their newspapers and journalists who write these types articles really go crazy!

I don't think there is a difference between OURS and YOUR in this regard. So try not to judge on that least

The most popular articles are always the negative ones, right?

Fear mongering is more profitable then complicated explanations of geopolitics, specially between two very large and powerful neighbors with dynamic interests. :coffee:

No mention of "india" for dispute, no mention of it in the joint military exercises in china's white paper like the Obama Romneys Foreign policy debate where india was not even mentioned, this make it look how insignificant and unimportant india really is.
India is very insignificant indeed! Super Power Pakistan, an economic and military giant in contrast is mentioned everywhere! But no prizes for guessing why!! :cheesy:

After reading this thread, i got the feeling that Indians are complaining that they are not being considered as a mini superpower (which Indians think they are) by China. Come on guys, dont loose heart. Your attitude reminds me of a cartoon that was published in 1938, just before the start of WW-II. That cartoon really portrayed the the political situation of the world. Here is that cartoon

Now considering the situation of far-east, obviously Chinese military's focus is on North Korea issue. So what if they dont consider India? Do yo guys also think like Stallin?

I found this report quite factual. I am as a matter of fact happy that issues with India have been downplayed by China which shows that the issues are not that problematic.
Times of India is a tabloid. Did you ever visit it online? That is there for one purpose only. Get revenue from you. Not give news to you.

TOIlet does not represent Indias views on this. The GOI and our Foreign Ministry do.

The fact that there are not many problems on our borders just shows that we have managed to warm up Sino-Indian relations again.

If they dont consider India then their PM wouldnt have been visiting India, there is a difference betwwen a white paper written by a PA and visting a country by a PM.

For ground forces, India is larger than China in number, India has 1.1 million soldiers while China only has 0.85 million

buddy can you tell me a single good reason why both these countries should fight each other.i mean if a fight breaks out between China(the largest economy of Asia) and India(the 3rd largest economy of Asia) then it will be a catastrophe for the entire Asian continent.both of our countries are mature ones and we have many other priorities than fighting each other over some mountainous territory of Arunachal Pradesh.so i think we should maintain the status quo like what we have maintained for the last 50 years and peacefully resolve our border issues once and for all as we won't achieve anything fruitful other than economic and material losses by fighting each other:cheers:!

no reason to play it up even some indians want us to for their own agenda

the present and imminent dangers for us are in the Peninsula, Diaoyu Islands and SCS!

Typical TOI -

All newspapers say first Scorpene including PTI (Press Trust Of India) that France says we'll get in 2014.
They come up with 18 month delay according to "sources". Then they say that there are talks b/w MDL and DCNS for consultants. Then they say techies left 1 MONTH ago and were sitting on their arses in Mumbai. So definitely ambassador knew what he was saying. PS: All hulls ready and being outfitted.

(I have scoured Internet for 3 days and all I got was effin TOI. They seem to get a kick spreading fear.)

.
I don't think it's about being significant or not.

It's more to do with the fact that the border dispute with India is not a very high priority for us.

Our biggest foreign policy priorities right now are all in the Pacific.

Our Pacific disputes are MUCH more important in geostrategic terms. Not to mention that the average Chinese person can be driven into a rage by mention of Diaoyutai (myself included) but very few will know or even care about the border disputes in the Himalayas.

The Sino-Indian Border dispute is now history, even more on the Chinese side than on the Indian one. The GoI has factored that in into FP. The Indian Press which is such a "rainbow" of opinions keeps throwing it up off and on. Let us not forget that the Indian Press does not make FP, that is done elsewhere. There is enough evidence of that to clinch matters. :)

Don't forget that this same TOI group once sold Tea branded as "Editor's Choice". Which did not run because the Tea was as good as Sawdust.
And that the TOI employs a "shrieking gasbag" called Arnab Goswami.
