These countries have Stockholm Syndrome, no doubt. Some Asians, like Japanese, Vietnamese and Indians, have this embarassing attitude of worshipping the white people who smashed up their country or enslaved them. Have some pride for God's sake.

No, Japan is opportunist. If you watch their history closely since Meiji era, Japan was the American ally in many war. They joined the American war against Qing Dynasty, then they were on US side in world war 1. But then suddenly backstab US in World War 2. So it is not surprising if they act like US ally again now. Who know, when US become weakened, and they have an opportunity to militarist themselves again, they will betray US again like in World War 2. Everything depend on the flow of current geopolitics.
