Featured China reignites coal project in Pakistan after Australia spat

This project has nothing to do with China Australia Spat. Whoever wrote this article is a moron with no comprehension of ground realities. First of all most of the Thar Coal is not extractable which why Plant have to be built on the site where coal is first converted gas and then ignited. Although it can be used to make Gas, Diesel and other chemicals used in industry.

This isn't true, 105km railway track is being build to export thar coal to Karachi and Sahiwal plants.

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2020 ) :A 105-kilometer railway line will be constructed from Chhor to Islamkot to transport coal from Thar Coal Field to Port Qasim and up-country, apart from launching coal to gas to urea and liquid projects, and installation of 1320 megawatts power plant in Thar Coal Block-VI under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)-related projects.

Who in the world needs foreign assistance to develop a coal field? This is about the dumbest way to fleece the nation's resources. At the expense of Pakistan, some folks probably made nice Swiss Bank assets.

The original plan was to develop Pakistani coal and iron ore fields (and yes, Pakistan does have high quality of both). To build a rail link between the two regions and import 2 steel mills from West Germany (back then).

This plan was sabotaged by ZA Bhutto making a deal with Russia for an outdated garbage gigantic grain on resources coal plant near the coast, that ran on imported iron ore.

This single act retarded the industrial development of Pakistan by decades and Pakistan is still suffering from the aftermath. Everything I've noted above is available in government documentation. The above information is directly from the mouth of former secretary of agriculture, Late Dr. Zafar Altaf.

Pakistan doesn't have $ to fund these projects, foreign investment is only feasible option. But I agree with you on other points, Bhutto destroyed Pakistan economy. Karachi steel mill is still gigantic pain in the *** of federal government.

A lot of what Bhutto did retarded Pakistan's economic growth, not least his nationalization policies that destroyed Pakistan's potential Tata's, Mahindra's etc.

His successors have continued 'Bhutto's socialism' by utilizing state resources to 'provide jobs' by over-staffing State institutions with incompetent political supporters and sycophants, resulting in Public Sector Enterprises losses that amount to billions of dollars annually, and have likely contributed to the highest line item in the budget (debt servicing).
