The difference here is that a traffic law violator does TANGIBLE harm, or at the very least, he created a situation that increases the odds of harm to other people sharing the same road, whereas a child skipping school does no harm but to himself.

I skipped classes while in high school to go surfing. My aptitudes were in electronics and math. I joined the USAF (F-111 and F-16). I am a Desert Storm veteran while on the F-16. Do YOU know what it is like flying hard terrain following (TF) over the hills of Scotland or pulling 9gs over the Gulf of Mexico? I doubt if you can tell the difference between a wrench and a hammer.

There is no comparison between prison and school.
