China protests over South Korea's plan for US missile defences

^^^
This (NEA)Union will only happen if all the stakeholders are willing to compromise, other than that its a dream far away.

The stakeholders are already compromising and actively working together on the grassroots and inter governmental ministerial level as we speak. The fact that this happens under the allure of western perceived and engrossed 'regional friction' is testament to the truth.

Japan and China are ancient civilizations who have existed even before the idea of America was birthed into existence. Our relations and bond is solid, ancient that stretches back 3000 years.

A year, a decade or two is a blink of an eye to us.

So just 1 liners and Lol? What happened to your eloquence nihonjin, aside from the subject of pan-asianism you seem to have become a different person!

I respected you as a poster not just because you were able to remain emotionally detached and not take things personally, but also because you were well-reasoned and eloquent, and always willing to give your reasons, none of which is present now!

I mean really, support and admiration for a country that is so antithetical to your country's values, that is so willing to see your country bathed in nuclear fire and often states such? A country that has abducted multiple citizens of your country and to this day refuses to cooperate with your country in their return or knowledge of their whereabouts!

How can you call yourself a Japanese patriot when you give verbal succor to a country that so clearly and consistently states itself as Japan's enemy through word and deed?

If Japan was more like North Korea you would be jailed at a work/'rehabilitation' camp and probably executed as a traitor!

Open your eyes Nihonjin!

LMAO how you define Patriotism?? only those who suck up with Americans are call patriot?? , we Chinese didn't twist @Nihonjin1051 's arm. we will let him discover the truth regarding China and US, who harm Japan's interest the most and who is Japan real enemy, no nation desire to have a neighbor as enemy and be lectured by a country thousand miles away, he want an harmonious unified north east Asia, and dream Japan as free nation that not to be controlled or at the mercy of US such as the Plazza accord that screwed up literally Japanese economy in 1980s.

And with his thread regarding North East Asian Integration, we all see the true color of western members and some east south Asian members, they just want to use Japan against China but not willing to see a peaceful and harmonized north east Asia because they're too scare and not in their best interest to see Japan. get along with China.

As for some Chinese include me we support his idea because it's in China and Japan's interest not to waste our time to fight each other and the mercy of a nation thousand miles away but to concentrate our energy and resource to make both countries better.

I agree with the words, but likely not in the way you meant them. :(

Indeed, @Kiss_of_the_Dragon , the opinions of some members , many of whom i had considered crucial in the past, revealed their hidden feelings. Perhaps its best to understand this dynamic. The theme of division is quite profound. To the point of trying to sow discord, and perpetuate it.

China should use its diplomatic and economic clout to do something about North Korea and their increasingly erratic regime. Didnt Kim Junior just execute his Army Chief of Staff?

China should not do that. That is EXACTLY what the conniving American legation wants; to further erode the situation in the peninsula so as to legitimize their presence in Seoul.

China should re-establish greater trade with Pyongyang, and should cooperate with Tokyo , which is actually starting to re-establish trade between Japanese western prefectures and North Korea. I believe that economic integration will calm the nerves in Pyongyang. Remember a starving tiger is most dangerous.

@TaiShang @Abu Zolfiqar

Do read this great article that gives a better understanding of the opportunity for Japan a la North Korea.

That was actually the US that rendered Japan bath in nuclear and carpet bombing fire. And that was several times more brutal than how they did it in Europe.

For the US East Asia was, and it is now, a place with low beings that it thinks can easily handle, manipulate and kill at will. No more.

China has no first use policy and will never and NEVER use it against a neighbor. China's entire defence conceptualization (from the development of long range missiles to high-yield nuclear explosives and delivery vehicles) is made with the US in mind. No one else.

How can you call yourself a Japanese patriot when you give verbal succor to a country that so clearly and consistently states itself as Japan's enemy through word and deed?

Because it is not. Japan understands the real enemy, which, on the Japanese soil, abducts, rapes and kill people thanks to its chokehold on the iron triangle in Japan in violation of the common desire of the Japanese people.

That's, also, slowly being changed as we see the Okinawan resistance which is having spill over effect on Tokyo in a good way.

If Japan was more like North Korea you would be jailed at a work/'rehabilitation' camp and probably executed as a traitor!

And in the US, he would be interrogated through legal torture techniques in a place that is technically not a US soil.

China should not do that. That is EXACTLY what the conniving American legation wants; to further erode the situation in the peninsula so as to legitimize their presence in Seoul.

I agree. Although protection of the NPT is important, what is done is done. Punishing and pushing DPRK into corner as an accomplice to the US aggressive posturing in the Peninsula will only worsen the situation.

China should remember that the US worked with the same "bloody" Saddam for some 30 years before it finally made him a madman, caught in a hole and hanged. US spasms over North Korea is not due to some higher holy concern for the security of our region.

I believe, what China does is simply blinding the US and US-led Western community because it is already way too much under the radar. Actual punitive steps to the degree of harming Korean people will never be taken by China.

China on Wednesday urged all parties involved in the Korean nuclear issue to resume talks amid looming UN sanctions against Pyongyang for missile launch.

The UN Security Council was discussing a new resolution with aims to prevent the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) from "going too far on a wrong path," said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

However, all parties should not give up the efforts to resume talks, as well as the responsibility to maintain the peace on the Korean Peninsula, Wang said while speaking at a joint press briefing after his talks with visiting Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

Pyongyang launched a satellite-carrying rocket on Feb. 7, which was seen as a cover for a long-range ballistic missile, after conducting its fourth nuclear test on Jan. 6.

Under UN Security Council resolutions, the DPRK is banned from firing any kind of ballistic missile.

The DPRK should "pay the price" for repeatedly violating the UN Security Council resolutions, Wang said.

Wang compared the Korean nuclear issue with the Iran nuclear deal, saying the long suspension of the six-party talks on the Korean nuclear issue resulted in a situation that "no one wants to see."

Therefore, all parties should consider the resumption of talks while discussing a new UN Security Council resolution, he said.

He said the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and a truce-to-peace mechanism should be pursued at the same time to solve the major concerns of all parties in a balanced way, while defining a target for the negotiation.

"This is reasonable and will help us find a thorough solution. China is ready to have further discussion with all sides," Wang said.

Wang reiterated that sanctions and military means were not solutions, but only exacerbate the situation. The Chinese government always supports a political solution, in accordance with the UN Charter to peacefully solve disputes, which is in the common interest of the parties concerned and the international community.

Bishop is paying an official visit from Tuesday to Thursday at the invitation of Wang. She also attended the third round of bilateral diplomatic and strategic dialogue.

This is important that Mr. Wang emphasized this. I do believe Tokyo feels the same way.

This is called 'spin'. Sanctions and military means are RESPONSES to what NKR did. If China is serious about a political solution, then China should pressure NKR to stop its nuclear weapons program. Preemption is often better than responses.

North Korea wants peace treaty with US to halt its nuclear tests

North Korea claimed it had tested a hydrogen bomb for the first timeReuters
North Korea has said it could halt its nuclear tests if the US agrees to sign a peace treaty and stops its joint military exercises with South Korea. The offer comes days after Pyongyang claimed it had "successfully" conducted a hydrogen bomb test.

"In response to the US continuously invading our sovereignty and making threatening provocations, we will acquire ourselves with all possible nuclear attack and nuclear retaliation abilities, but will not thoughtlessly use our nuclear weapons." KCNA news agency quoted the country's foreign ministry spokesman as saying on 16 January, according to the Associated Press.

The spokesperson said: "Still valid are all proposals for preserving peace and stability on the peninsula and in Northeast Asia including the ones for ceasing our nuclear test and the conclusion of a peace treaty in return for US halt to joint military exercises."

North Korea has made peace offers to the US in the past also but they were rejected. Washington wants Pyongyang to completely abandon its nuclear ambition. The isolated state has been under intense economic pressure, caused by UN-led sanctions over its nuclear experiments.

In response to the fresh offer, US State Department spokesman John Kirby said: "We are going to continue to make sure the alliance is ready in all respects to act in defense of the South Korean people and the security of the peninsula."

"The onus is on North Korea to take meaningful actions toward denuclearisation and refrain from provocations," Kirby said.

On 6 January, North Korea said it had successfully carried out a hydrogen bomb test underground, a move which was condemned by the US, UK, South Korea and China. It claimed the H-bomb was "capable of wiping out the whole territory of the US".

The Americans must stop asking China to pressure NK. NK has proposed a peaceful resolution, what say you America?

TBH, the more time progresses, the more i develop a fondness for Kim. He has on his shoulders the responsibility of realizing the true unification of Korea. A proud day, a proud moment for all Kankukojin / Korean People.
