What's new

China, partially a member of the developed world

Still developing country.
Past achievements are encouraging, but there is still a long way to go.
Come on, China:china:

These rankings are a good indication of income but not an indication of living standards since the price of goods change from country to country. I.E. Iraq may have a higher ranking than China but it's doubtful one would choose to live in Iraq.

Asians seem to love to be something that they are not.

' Partially' a member of the developed world is like being ' almost' a virgin !

Not as much as Indians, LOL.

Invalid analogy!! There is only one hymen but big countries, especially the developing ones, have many city/states with varying degree of economic development. The cost of living in Shanghai or Tianjing is on almost par with the Hong Kong, Singapore, LA and NY.

So, if its the cost of living in a city that is a determinant then there would be many other nations who would be ' almost' members of the developed world.

The point I was making is that why be something you are not ?

BTW, the hymen too can be re created.

Cost of living is just a colloquia/casual way of speaking. If you prefer the economic terms, high cost of living = high GDP per capita, high consumption (investment +spending) and inflation.

Your point is flawed (reeks of jealously too) No one is saying China is a developed country, per capita level we are still a developing country, but many Chinese cities/states GDP are on par with the developed world. This is fact. Remember, China is a big country.

Still a failed analogy. Real or re-created, you can only have one hymen at any one time. A big country has many cities/states, they are always there, and they're all developing at different rate.
