Hi,
This news was posted by a member but nobdy gave it importance... thts why i started this thread to throw some light on it...

Its a news reported by various sites even malaysian one.... but no Pak=Chin?

Though indian sites claim its to match indias ancient relic the mig 21... but as we know the typical b.s ice topping by the MAHAN india MEDIA :)

Anyways here it goes:

China, Pak in MoU to develop stealth variant on JF-17 Thunder
Farnborough, Jul 19 (PTI):

China and Pakistan have reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a stealth version of a light-weight fighter aircraft being jointly produced by them to match MiG ... (B.S)warplane, a work horse of the Indian Air Force.

JF-17 Thunder, also known as FC-1, being jointly built by Kamra-based Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and Chengdu Aerospace Company (CAC) today made its first appearance at an international air show having flown in here after making refueling stops in Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

The plane, which has been in development in one form or another since 1991, is a symbol of cooperation between China and Pakistan and the first assembled version brought out by the Kamra plant, delivered in November last year, according to 'Show News,' a special issue of defence journal Aviation Week for the Farnborough Air Show.

"The two (countries) have also reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a stealth variant of the JF-17 Thunder," it said.

The journal said that Pakistan Air Force (PAK) is expected to acquire around 250 JF-17s, but this may be a split of 100 in the JF-17 configuration, being displayed at the air show here, and 150 of the stealth multi-role combat aircraft (MCRA) between 2015 and 2025.

The plane is powered by a Russian-built Klimov RD-93 engine -- a specialised single-engine fighter variant of the Mig 29's RS-33 powerplant. The first prototype of the warplane flew in 2003 and the first two Chinese-made versions were handed over to the PAF in March 2007.

Show organisers said that the two JF-17 fighter planes will not fly as part of the air show. "The aircraft has not completed its full release to service in Pakistan," the journal said, quoting a member of the flight control committee.

"Although that full release is only month away, the PAF is also today in what is for them new territory. Farnborough is their very first event of this kind ever," it said

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!................we have to develop a stealth fighter to match a flying coffin .....btw who wrote this "insightful" and "thoughful" and "mindful" and..........(aap samagh to gay he hon gay);).....article

News doesn't make sense and neither Indian Media is any source to justify its truthfulness. If Pakistan would have to acquire stealth fighters, those would be J-XX as its native platform, J-10Bs will be already with us by then.

JF-17 is not made to be stealth neither we require it to develop into a medium-weight aircraft. It is serving its purpose well as Light-Weight Multi Purpose All Weather BVR Capable, Compare-able to F-16, versatile, 4th Gen air-craft and that is enough for it to offer. For Medium Weight aircrafts, J-10s are coming and for heave-weight class of aircrafts, J-11s will fill the gap. JF can reduce its RCS in future versions but stealth is not a requirement from it.

It can be its BLK-II?

Maybe use extensive use of carbon?new engine, few changes in air frame, better avionic suite n radar?

Somethin on the side line of F-15 Silent eagle...

Even Rupee news is reporting it... not to forget the malaysian defence sites.

Been hearing about such talks since 2008... on many site by many experts.
There must be somethin goin on behind the curtin... our GOP n establishment keeps everything secretive... from arty GPRS MRLS,AK-I Upgrade,AL SILSIL MRAP, to other stuff... so anything can be suspected.

i doubt that the inherent design would be drastically changed once again-- however , composits and rcs reduction etc may be involved to make it somewhat stealthy

I didnt say it will have massive frame changes rather small but significant changes... even now we saw the use of composite tht wasnt seen in its prototypes .... but who knows... Malaysians expert says it will probably incorporant rafales engine, etc etc

But i think it would be somthing like silent eagle not a TRUE 5th gen but something very close to it.

I really want to deny this news as i don't think we can Turn this Fighter into a stealthy fighter jet - but the sources seem credible so i would consider it.

I want to see some more Links to this news though.
Thanks

first of all we need to get enough fighters so we can phase out our old horses...

MAN READ CAREFULLY IT SAID THE JF17 IS DESIGNED TO COUNTER MIG SERIES BUT NOT FURTHER UPGRADE

Is Mig 21 the only Mig in IAF???? There are Mig 29's and Mig 27's aswell in Service

Only china might be producing J-XX on its own not Pakistan. Although PAF might acquire it as soon as possible it'll be available for PAF. But question really arises that What will PAF final nos of aircraft in its fleet like i heard that it would be 400-450. But i think there would be 450 jets they will produce as well as induct till 2018.

Jxx will be done and into production in 2025 soo we still have 10 to 15 years more we are ghetting fc 20 and jf 17 plus f16 that sums it all up 250 jf 17 + 150 fc20 + 100 f16
