Maybe they will prefer Arabs investments in Madrasa and religion education sector over Chinese infrastructure and manufacturing ones, meanwhile country like Indonesia is trying hard to get Chinese attention and prioritize them by setting red carpet investments agency in several cities in China for better access and reap billions US dollar FDI and other access to their technology. You know, not much Chinese got positive attitude about Indonesia toward them and the feeling is mutual here because of certain political issues like how our people and government look at their CPC involved in coup in 1965 even the suspicion is still lingering till today and their look down on us because 1998 riots and anti China pogrom in the past, but proffesionalism conduct is at play here resulting in good cooperation between Indonesia China.

Yes I talked with cpl chinese investors, they had very glowing praise about certain states in India business environment...and they are strengthening more good contacts there etc to expand. This is all manufacturing and assembly related stuff.

It is very easy to talk to them focusing on solid future for Asia, good pragmatic business links, more broader historical/cultural links (when the subject is broached).....and avoid the blips of contention/negativity that only natural in large countries rising up again to reclaim their natural historical presence and role. I mean some of the developed western worlds "best friends" not too long ago were mass destroying each other (innocent populations and everything)....such a wax/wane does not even enter the picture for us in Asia.

For those who are talking about corruption in Bangladesh, it is certainly not at the top of the scale globally. Not even close.

I've been to govt. offices in Jakarta where bribe amounts are printed and posted on the wall. And this is a country whose GDP is higher than Bangladesh.

On a separate high level note, I can see that certain quarters are fanning the flames between countries to create division between them (Chinese posters being on the receiving end, some non-trolls also getting involved). Of course in practical terms this means nothing that will affect investments in Bangladesh, but it still drives useless conversation in social media.

I see no change in the foreseeable future that China will remain the no. 1 investor in Bangladesh (regardless of the rants and mudslinging in PDF).

Soon this disparity will grow only higher....as BD tourism+business gets stuck even more in a rut with no promotion or innovation in very competitive world....whereas there is quiet and steady boost to get more Chinese tourism and businesspeople to visit India (of course lets see in the end what pans out).

In the end, they are just mad at MOU reality vis-a-vis China-BD economic ties (I mean China is just offering its best given the circumstances here....BD simply needs to grow and broaden lot more itself) and its exacerbated by Rohingya/MM situation (like you pointed out). They want something (with big hand holding)....but reality gets in the way again.

China would be broadly wise to tread carefully and as much as possible let south asian business ppl (the ones China invests in) to run and handle these affairs (and simply put, India has way more of that than the other big two in South Asia). China is already doing that and now broadly learning from its approach too (and increase this with time).

The touchy feely "good will" blah blah....cmon China knows the deal there long time now....look at your trade/relationship with Japan for example on hard data vs "goodwill" feelings. Simple employment of the same thing.....some people get it, some people dont get it....so same people will make big deal out of it, others just want to get on with "your money is green as anyone elses...lets keep things professional and cordial" (and keep the blowing off of steam to media and politics blah only)....and Chinese of course work best with latter folks....and you can judge that more and more with time for yourselves.
