China needs to increase its nuclear warheads to 1,000: Global Times

China needs to expand the number of its nuclear warheads to 1,000 in a relatively short time. It needs to have at least 100 Dongfeng-41 strategic missiles. We are a peace-loving nation and have committed to never being the first to use nuclear weapons, but we need a larger nuclear arsenal to curb US strategic ambitions and impulses toward China. Maybe we have to deal with challenges with stronger determination in the near future, which requires the support of the Dongfeng and Julang missiles.

Don't be naïve. Don't assume that nuclear warheads are useless. In fact, they are being used every day as a deterrent to shape the attitudes of US elites toward China. Some Chinese experts say we don't need more nuclear weapons, I think they are as naïve as children.

Some people may call me a"war monger" because I want the country to have more nuclear warheads. They should instead give this label to US politicians who are openly hostile to China. I always hope China and the US can get along with each other, but peaceful coexistence between the two countries is not a thing that can be begged for; it's shaped by strategic tools. This is particularly true as we are facing an increasingly irrational US, which only believes in strength. We don't have much time debating the need for increased nuclear warheads, we just need to accelerate the steps that make it happen.

There is a consensus emerging among Chinese strategic planners that we need to radically overhaul our nuclear deterrence. It's obvious if you read Chinese media, now it's also trickling into English media like GT. Right now we can wipe out a handful of US cities in a second strike, NY, LA, DC, Chicago, etc. no problem, but beyond that is uncertain as it depends on the survival rate of our arsenal after first strike and the effectiveness of US ABM systems. For proper deterrence, we need the ability to wipe out every man, woman and child in the US, all 330M of them. Hope our enemies never forget: their continued life on earth comes from the charity, mercy and benevolence we show them, so they should be grateful, otherwise we can revoke their permission to live at any time

Yes, good idea. China should've done so a long time ago. Also, since US keeps nukes in bases close to China, like in Guam, perhaps China should find a base near the US to keep a few nukes as well. Perhaps Venezuela? Or even Cuba? Maybe China can succeed where the USSR failed.

The map below clearly shows how the US is trying to encircle China with bases and tens of thousands of troops. It'd be suicidal for China not to respond to this threat in kind.

TBH China probably already has close to 1000 nukes, maybe around 800? Do you think a country its size with all the sophisticated infrastructure and military hardware would only have 200 to 300 nukes when it needs to defend against the likes of the United States, India, and Western Europe? Maintaining such a large number of nukes shouldnt be a problem either since theyre pretty cheap nowadays ...

I hope you're right. But having nukes isn't enough. China must also show some teeth and aggressive behavior. That's the only language the Americans understand. It cannot afford to just sit and watch the US encircle it further. It must counter-attack and make similar moves around the US. Americans must understand that their aggressive behavior toward China will no longer be tolerated.

But China remains very passive and docile vis-a-vis the US. As far as the rest of the world is concerned, it can't even deal with tiny Taiwan.

With the Chinese economy set to overtake the US in a few years, time is indeed on China's side. But China cannot afford to underestimate the US willingness to keep China down. Americans play dirty. They don't follow the rules. That's what "American exceptionalism" teaches them. So don't expect them to play fair and just roll over and let China lead the world's economy. If they sense weakness on China's side, they will cause all kinds of trouble for you.

They can't declare war on nuclear China themselves, but they can launch a lot of proxy wars around China.

Willingness? Why not US declared " no one China policy " and start to try park their CVN in Taiwan naval base. Then we can talk about that.

These are the things american will never tell you how they lost control in many plot.

This reflects very badly on China though. How would China respond if the US did these dangerous actions towards Chinese pilots or vessels operating in the area? Definitely not an area for China to brag about here ... there's a difference between FONAP patrols and shooting lazers at aircraft.

Half of our nukes will be intercepted in space or outer atmosphere of earth so we need to fire multiple nukes on our enemies (india) so that even if half of them get destroyed other half will definitely destroy whatever is in enemy (indian) control.

Pakistan does not need 400+ nukes ... the only threat it faces is India and just 100 is more than enough to keep its threat at bay.

Well, in that case EVERY country has the right to prevent war, if you know what I mean. It shouldn't be a privilege for just a few countries with very bloody pasts and questionable presents. Except for our brothers Pakistan of course.
