China media hurls racist slur at departing US envoy

Who cares. Gary locke is a yellow *** monkey in the eyes of white people. Most americans would agree. Rate like if you agree.

Most PDF PRC are piece of half bake shitt that do not know what they are talking. They are a disgrace to Chinese. The most gungho one, most aggressive one, most likely to insult people one, are those who holed up in white man land.

They despise banana and white man. They lie and spread hate against white man. That does not prevent them from holing up in White man land. They are mad schizophrenic.

The ordinary Chinese people are reasonable and nice, diametrically opposite to PDF PRC.
Arent you trying to overthrow singapore government? How's that going?

Gary Locke was borned and grew up in the US. His heritage is of the US. Just like how American blacks no longer consider Africa to be of their heritage. Same for the Italian-Americans or the German-Americans. Eating one's ethnic food or even speaking the language does not count. For Gary Locke, just like for the Italian-Americans and the German-Americans, US culture is their culture.

So if you insists that Locke somehow 'betrayed' his Chinese heritage, as dubious as it may be, then yes, calling him a 'banana' is racist. No matter how much you want to dodge the label, you are a racist. But be proud of what you are. Do not shy away from yourself.
Seem like you are pretty hung up on the word "betrayed".

Did someone from your Vietnam homeland called you a traitor? Is that why you insist on calling me a racist?

Judging by how work up you are, it shows that you do care about your heritage.

Man, I don't know how to help you, you have to work that one out yourself.

About betrayed, some Chinese could have certain expectation of a fellow Chinese. And failure to deliver could be considered as betrayal. But it is not obligatory as in mandatory, there is a possibility of attracting some social pressure/stigma/criticism. BTW, generally speaking, the intention/motive of the person do matter quite a bit. As in whether it is deliberate in neglecting/rejecting Chinese culture/value. A "banana" like a ABC(American born Chinese) that cannot help their circumstance, would be absolve of such obligation.

Socially, It work similar like making friend. We felt a certain bond and affinity to fellow Chinese. But if the other side decided not to respond in kind, then he/she would not be considered fellow Chinese. He/She would be put in a different social category then fellow Chinese but could still be a friend, it is not really a problem. It is really not that much different from other type of social group.

No...YOU guys are...Otherwise the slur 'banana' would not be used against Locke. Think about it. Can you?

Ok, then I can tell you that I don't think the betrayal accused by the article is the main complaint.

It is a satirical piece, it just got thrown in for dramatic effect.

The article think that US deliberately send a ethnic Chinese ambassador to undermine Chinese government. Because when he criticize China, the Chinese people would be angry from wounded pride if it had come from anyone else other than an ethnic Chinese. That is the reason why his race is mentioned. That is also the reason to mention "banana" to point out that he is not truly one of us despite his appearance(his heart is different from his skin).

Also, the comment by the foreign office spokeswoman is telling, she mentioned "positive contributions to cooperation between China and the US".

Call China old fashioned, but this in China view is one of the primary function of a diplomat.

And ambassador Locke appear to come from a different diplomatic school, and excel in the opposite of that.

In China view, the guy is OPENLY hostile towards China and violate diplomatic taboo as understood by China.
China would have problem understanding why US send an representative that drop all etiquette and openly defiance and pay no reverence to the concern of his host nation.

Did China US relation has gone to such a bad state that we are an open enemy now?

I dare say, his behavior is what prompt Xi to travel to US and make a proposal for a new framework.

Those are Chinese people that were making a protest outside the US embassy in China.

They slightly damaged the vehicle that is returning into the US embassy. They should not have damage the vehicle, but there is nothing wrong with expressing how they feel if done peacefully.

BEIJING —China is investigating protesters' harassment of the U.S. ambassador as he attempted to enter the American Embassy, and U.S. officials say Beijing has expressed regret for the incident.

About 50 protesters spilling over from demonstrations at the nearby Japanese Embassy surrounded the car of U.S. Ambassador Gary Locke on Tuesday, tried to block him from entering the embassy compound and ripped the car's flag.

Video shot by prominent Chinese artist Ai Weiwei and posted to his YouTube channel showed the protesters marching to the compound entrance just as Locke was arriving, then throwing small objects at his car before Chinese security forces broke up the crowd.

Locke told reporters Wednesday that Chinese authorities were "very quick" to move the demonstrators away. "It was all over in a matter of minutes, and I never felt in any danger," he said.

The "banana" ambassador is so gentle to make such a comment like that.
