China may match Obama support for India for UN seat

China will do what is in China's best interests.

People in Pakistan understand that and it will not diminish our all-weather relationship in the least bit.

Are you sure on this?

I know UNSC reforms will take several years, but assumong if China supports India's candidature for a permanent seat with veto powers (whenever that happens), do you think Pakistan will not try to use its influence and dissuade China on this issue.

As I understand it, India's cannot use its veto on Kashmir issues, so it doesn't really matter.

China wants to dilute the West's power in the UNSC, so supporting India makes sense. It surely prefers India over Japan.

Too early to say China will surport India or finally India will get a UN security seat.Basically the UN reform is a joke.Noboady of the P5 will like to share their powers with others.Even if a reform is needed finally,China will choose Brazil and German, not India or Japan. The Chinese politicans are not that stupid to surport either India or Japan.

.
Well you can easily avoid that. If you're going to put forward a resolution for UNSC reform, then don't include Japan on it.

Personally, i don't subscribe to that idea. Let Japan's case also be considered, on its own merits. Why forestall it at the beginning?

Can you throw light on the bolded statement? Is this a clause of the UNSC that Im unaware of?

there are presently four nation in line for the seat..

india , brazil . garmany and japan....

it's very unlikely that all four will get it...

more over US certainly like to put canada and maxica on the table as well...

You're making things up. Neither Canada or Mexico has expressed any desire even if the US would like them to be.

. .
so what does China expect to get from India in return ? in fact what does US expect to get from India for all those "favors" it has been giving to India ?

China is keeping its cards close to its chest. Let's see which way the tide turns. :coffee:

USA should also match China's support for India by supporting Pakistan for permanent U.N. seat.
