China Lost 14 Million People in World War II. Why Is This Forgotten?

You are assuming thats all we did by bombings and fighting at sea. And Stalin desperately wanted the U.S. and the allies to invade Normandy and opened the western front. So much for Soviet superiority on land. Guess Stalin was afraid he would lose his army by the time he reached Germany.

Stalin desperately asked the West of the Second Front in 1941-1942. And you opened it in 1944 only when you realized that all Europe will be Red.

Though I am a staunch anti Communist and hate Stalin more than Hitler(now that's an achievement!) I must say that compared to the Sowjet Union:-)D) the Western allies were tourists. But had the West not stepped in...it would have been worse.

@SarthakGanguly

The americans were fighting tha japanese in the Pacific, germans in N. Africa than Italy, german U boats in the Atlantic meanwhile the russians evaded engaging the japanese in East Asia while they had the german front.Western Europe was the USA's third front in the war.

Also what vostok forgets to mention is that besides the raw materials, weapons the americans supplied the soviets with, another factor which was decisive in the war was the western allies bombing campaign of Germany. This severely depleted the german capacity of producing war supplies, tanks, airplanes, etc.

Chineses were lucky to be in the right place at the right time so the history put their names with the big names actually fought against the Axis!!

Against Japan USA was essential. Japan was defeated by the USA. But Germany was defeated by the Ruskies :D

If the western allies wouldn't have opened fronts in Africa,Italy,France, supplied the soviets with war materials and bombed german war industry and delivery infrastructure to a pulp the russkies wouldn't have won on their own.

In spite of the massive bombardment, the Germans under Speer reached maximum production in 1944!
The back of the Wehrmacht was broken in Russland.

We're in the domain of speculative history here so i guess we'll have to agree that we disagree.:)

Neither USSR nor US liberated China. The war against the Japs was ongoing then, we still have 2/3 of the land. There was assistance from both USSR and US, but we did the fighting ourselves.

No country would recognize Manchuria, because it never existed in history. The population are mostly han chinese. It was a Japanese creation to divide and invade China.

You're still NOT getting it. The point is not about stanligrad, but that it's easy to talk the talk when you don't have to walk the walk.

So Japan took 1/3 China?

Chinese alone killed nearly 500,000 Japanese soldiers.don't put all credit to the yankees.

However most credit goes to US; without "Little Boy" and "Fat Man", war would have lasted for several additional months, if not years.

Don't lie through your teeth @northeast
500000 Japanese deaths!!!! The total Japanese war dead in China in WWII???
"1937–1941: 185,647 dead 1941–1945: 202,958 dead"
Source - Dower, John "War Without Mercy", pp. 297.

Still it does not total 500000! That too I am counting from 1937. And also the number of dead include a huge number of collaborator Chinese units under Japanese command. :D

Actually, Japan to took pretty much all of china .. before it moved on to south-east Asia etc.

Japan, and for that matter the entire world, never considered Xinjiang or Tibet to be a part of china ... and Japan never invaded Tibet or Xinjiang.

That's what the chinese forummers are counting as "2/3" of "china", which it wasn't.

It was a combination of direct and indirect result of the Japanese invasion.

So, are the Japanese the only perpetrators of 14 million death or other nations and empires are also held responsible for it in Chinese mainstream thinking?

The Japanese is the main responsible perpetrator in World War II. Our hatre of the US had something to do with the current politics moreso than about history in World War II.
