sadly, the so called "explore the moon" now only limit to taking low resolution photos -- 5000 years civilization, we still couldn't take a moon rock back to earth, Americans gave us 1g as "gift".

This example actually exposes the danger of un-thoughful military campaign.

If Sui had launched 10 smaller set-piece attacks on Goguryeo of 100,000 men each, with clearly defined objectives and territory acquisition, she will have much more success than gambling a 1 million men mass campaign.

An example for you to think about: Would the US had been better off today, better prepared to face new challenges today if she did not need to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, or even just concentrated on Afghanistan?

Another example: Was Napoleonic army strong? Why did he failed in his invasion of Russia with half a million men? Does that make his army weak in your mind?

We should be prepared for all possibilities, but not be warmongers. You can start a battle, but when it ends will not be decided by you, as you can see in the current examples.

why do the chinese guys here use Goguryeo instead of Gaogouli? Gaogouli was part of Chinese history. Pls dont use Bangzi's spelling. Use Chinese Pinyin for 高句丽 Gaogouli

Yes, Gaogouli was another semi-nomadic tribe, cousins of the Huaxia, just like the Khitan and Jurchen. They have nothing to do with Silla kingdom, the agrarian state from the south of the Korean peninsula (and pre-decessor to the Bangzi) that destroyed it together with Tang.

Let's deconstruct. You agree with Taiwan and South Tibet right? What about Outer Mongolia and Outer Manchuria? Their restoration is needed to finally reverse all the unequal treaties. No N. Korean territory is needed because Outer Manchuria gives us access to the Sea of Japan.

I think you don't want to upset Russia. We have good relations with them right now, but it's an alliance of convenience mainly to balance the USA. I'm talking about in the long-term, when our interests will collide again just like they did during the Cold War, only this time, we will be the dominant power.

As for the the "distant goals", I agree they seem fantastical right now. I don't view them as fundamental, and I think our pursuit should be contingent on how much our geopolitical power has evolved.

China has settled our border with Russia, so we must honor our treaty. Russia has done nothing seriously damaging to Chinese interests. We are only hostile toward neighbors we have territorial disputes with.

Let's clarify: I think that the difference in power with our neighbors will magnify as long as we keep the status quo and continue growing economically/technologically. Therefore, we should deal with them later rather than sooner. Is this what you disagree with?

Economic and technological advantage will not help if the opponent such as india, South Korea, Japan or Vietnam gains a military advantage through nuclear weapons.
