Just some fake news stories following the Western script of mud-slinging China. No ground at all. A lot of Buddhists and Taoists in China take on fasting and it's a housand-years-old tradition. Where was the ban? Still referring to the Cultural Revolution era? If so, it was not against any particular ethnic or religious group. Chinese communism carried its atheist communism roots but had allowed religious practices since the 1980's. In fact, China has more Islamist mosques than both the US and Europe combined (? -- I read somewhere).

The promotion of the expansion of religions in China by the West will accelerate China’s return to traditional culture and values, including the Confucian cultural circle around China. Confucian culture will be more open than in history but will be conservative by the West and China today.
