I really hope China does this Pakistan also needs to develop a warhead which cane be fired from missiles and is massively destructive but not nuclear one that would be real answer to India's cold start doctrine

This new conventional warhead is almost as powerful as the nuke, but it has very low barrier for using in the battlefield, unlike the nuke.

We need Thermobaric warhead for short range missile with huge payload capacity.

Tactical nukes cover a massive range of explosive power from like a dozen tons of yield up to 5 kiloton or even more.

US conventional MOAB "Mother of all bombs" has a yield of 11 tons of TNT. Compare this to the david crockett nuclear "grenade" of very similar yield.

The scale is just all together different. No conventional weapon can match the capability of nukes, with anything close to its size.

As pointed by @Nilgiri , the most powerful conventional bombs, weighing many kilotons, have an explosive power equivalent to only the smallest tactical nuclear weapons, weighing some kilograms.

Also, the DF ZF, is no where near to a nuclear weapon, because it would either be a kinetic weapon, or a dual, kinetic + explosive weapon, and none of this can come anywhere near to a decent size tactical nuclear weapon, in the respect of net energy delivered against the target.

tac nukes have the capability to cause an earthquake as the title of this video says. Even a very small tac nuke can havean explosive yield equivalent to 72 tons of TNT.
But hey China follows a no first use policy like India. So should we be worried?
