China has an advantage over the US Navy that could mean a 'decisive' defeat for US warships in a fig

frankly the u.s. needs to be graceful and bow out of this game of "global dominance". China has caught up in tech and has an industrial base that is 10 times larger than that of the u.s. america has never faced an adversary that can produce far more that she can...loose loose situation.

But China have not caught up in tech, or even close thus far; this is an illusion. The most crucial technologies are usually Japanese, American and German.

Even with my limited knowledge, I could see through the bluff in this recent wave of disclosure. Behind-the-scenes reality is that the Chinese boogeyman is a powerful narrative to fund research programs for a new generation of weapon systems which would be far more advanced than known stuff at present (conventional and nuclear); China have replaced USSR in this respect.

Almost seems like some folks here use PDF as essentially a place to Hyper nationalist advertise.

The thing is, they’re just preaching to the choir for the most part.

If they have the ""Advantage"as these yahoos put it, then by all means they should start shooting at USN ships. But then again... o_O:blah::cuckoo:

Why not US start shooting first? We got several man made islands in SCS, US can start with them.

I actually find some use in reading some of the CCP state sponsored propaganda posted here. For the most part, I basically assume the opposite of whatever position they take in their posts. For example, when the CCP posters here post more frequently about their wonderful advances in combating pollution, that tells us their environmental issues are getting worse.

This can provide some insight into economic, social, cultural, environmental and political trends in what is a very opaque nation. I utilize this as environmental scanning in my strategic planning process for my business.

Thats actually a good way to find facts. Thanks. Will use this in "China Stronk" threads.

No need. Since those islands are man-made, they are worthless in the current treaties, as in those man made islands do not generate maritime privileges. As long as the rest of the SCS is free for all to travel, that is all we care about.

That's also what we care, so both are happy, China never tried to stop it.

Why would we? It's you guys who are claiming you have the advantage.

China seized the Scarborough Shoal from the Philippines in 2012, despite the Philippines having a mutual defence treaty with the USA and being one of their closest allies and even an ex-colony of theirs.

Why do you think Duterte came to power after that? They realized the USA wasn't going to fulfill their mutual defence treaty, so they had to tilt towards China instead.

Islands and military facilities are being built all over the region as we speak. The USA is welcome to start shooting anytime, but we all know they don't care about China's territorial expansion in the SCS.

US navy sat idle when China took over Paracel Islands in 1974 despite repeated requests made by the south Vietnamese navy, US 7th fleet was just sat nearby watching South Vietnamese navy being destroyed, they also had an ally treaty with South Vietnam back then. We knew it all along that what US can do the best is bluffing.
