China: Doing it all yourself has its drawbacks

Americans and Russians copied German tech 65 years later China and Israel are copying American and Russian tech. Whats wrong with that ?

PS Real pioneers of modern tech were the Nazis.
One correction, they were German Scientists first. All of them were not Nazis, even most of them hated the Nazi regime during war and few of them left too.

Nothing is wrong in copying as ethics doesn't matter in defense industry. Sad but true.

which means we are also ahead in some

Such as??

Supercomputer, microprocessor, bullet train, space station, aircraft, missile, telco, turbine, nuclear, machining tools, shipbuilding, etc etc... china is far ahead.

All China showed with J-20 is that it can build a prototype that looks a 5th gen fighter and that it can take off and fly, that's it.

J-20 mighty drag queen has so far flew 60 times.

PAK FA on the other hand flew 130 times so far, more than double the J-20 .:argh:

Stealth shaping is indeed can be seen :)

1. Russia unlike US and China doesn't spend time and money making the prototype look all pretty, all that matters is that the Final product is good period.

I would say that PAKFA is pretty, even prettier than F-35.
But i doubt PAKFA is as stealthy as F-35

That will only happen if we sit and do nothing for the next 8 years, but in reality.

We are spending $123.4 billion USD on Classified Programs alone, and that's nothing to say about the very public programs like PAK FA, S-500, PAK DA.

Like I said keep dreaming.

Lenta.ru:

We can say that from the trend that China has demonstrated so far.

2 decase ago, china's military tech is nothing. But now you can see they are catching up very fast. Of course Russian engineers are not sleeping - they must have worked very hard; but China's engineers even working harder, therefore no wonder China is catching up Russia in military tech.

Can Russia successfully develop very advanced missile like: Midcourse Anti Balistic Missile, as China has demonstrated the test several years ago? Even USA admire and admit that the level of sophistication is very admirable.

Or can Russia develop Anti Ship Ballistic Missile such as DF21D? even USA is not capable yet.

From the trend point of view, it is not difficult to predict that soon China will be more advanced than Russia in most military tech. :)

You clam that China's air to air Missiles are better, then show me a Chinese equivalent to this missile on testing, production, or even planning stages.

:smokin::smokin:

Russia may be still ahead of China in term of "RANGE" for that kind AA anti AWACS missile, as K-100 range is 400km.

But remember that China's Midcourse ABM, and DF21D "Anti Ship Ballistic Missile" is things that Russia is unable to build yet.

Just wait till 2020, and the world will be amazed by the latest Chinese weaponry.

Then it will be China and US all the way in a battle for world dominance.

Russia will be a very distant third.

We have the PL-21D which is on the way for J-20. :coffee:

Usually when Nazis are addressed , the politics comes in automatically. Germans always have been the best engineers but Nazi party had created an Engineering environment where people's engineering abilities were pushed to the limits. Results are clear as day !

Russia being able to match China into the future?

A common pattern in Trolls and Fanboys, when confronted by facts and reason the only response they got is more trolling.

Even the US would be overtaken by the Chinese juggernaut in due course!

When it happens then you brag about it, until then zip it, zip it, zip it good.

Like I said a trillion time's, production PAK FA will be different, the plane hasn't even got its SU-XX designation yet and people are comparing it to the F-35:disagree:

Russia rolled out its Stealth fighter first dispute having a economy that is five times smaller than China, and our prototype has logged in more than double amount test flights as J-20.

So based on those facts, I would say Russian engineers are working even harder.

It was only 5 years ago that Russia restated its ABM program, so its too early yet to judge what Russian ABM program is yet capable of. But if Almaz-Antey delvers everything that's it promised with S-500 it will be a world beater.

Or can Russia develop Anti Ship Ballistic Missile such as DF21D? even USA is not capable yet.

The reason Russia has not developed a DF-21D class weapon is because we don't need too.

Our anti-ship missiles and nuclear attack submarines especially the new Yasen class:cool: is more than enough for US carriers battle groups.

Like I said too that UKBengali troll when it happens than you can brag about it.:)

Russia had working ABM systems for decades. There was no need to perform any midcourse tests. But you still can consider this as achievement. And so this is the only one after decades of developments? Yeah, impressive trend :)

Russia developed it in 1960s. R-27 Zyb - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You are too late

Russian strengths and weaknesses in military technology

There are Russian strengths and then there are the weaknesses.

For example, Russian engines and SAMs are pretty good.

However, Russia could never develop compact electronics to install an AESA radar on a destroyer. The best that the Soviet Union/Russia could accomplish was an AESA radar on an aircraft carrier.

Also, it is clear to all that the Russian T-50/Pak-Fa third prototype (after two years) embodies all of the stealth design flaws of the first prototype.

In conclusion, the Soviet Union was competitive for a few decades. However, it had weaknesses (e.g. electronics, advanced materials, systems integration, etc.). Today's Russia is clearly a lot weaker than the Soviet Union in terms of resources available for military research and development.

No amount of propaganda can convince objective observers that Russia is not falling behind the U.S. and China. Russia lacks the tools (e.g. supercomputers) and resources to compete with the U.S. and China.

A key weakness in Russian weapons is their reliability. We all know about Russian missiles blowing up or going off course during high-profile tests for Putin. Also, there is no need for me to recite the events of Kilo engines failing a mile after leaving harbor and being towed back by tugboats. The Indians test-fired many Klub missiles in Russia and they all missed their targets. Basically, Russian weapons are iffy.

Russia is producing microprocessors that are on par with Intel Core 2 in performance. Is there anything close to it in China?

The Chinese Godson series. Russia has never come close to claiming the title of "world's fastest supercomputer." That is the qualitative problem.

Also, Russia has very few supercomputers in the world's top 500 in comparison to the U.S. and China. That is the quantitative problem.

You guys are outgunned in supercomputers.

Russia can build 10 times more powerful supercomputer than you ever had if you sponsor the creation of it. What qualitive problem are you talking about? Russia has higher priority areas where to spend money. And we have as much supercomputers as we need for our economy. So dont worry if we will need more we will make more.
