. . .
Is this true? Official censorship of disasters, both present and looming, is what dragged China down in the nineteenth century. When I think of some of my former Chinese classmates who may have worked on this stuff I can imagine how upset and disappointed they'll feel that their cautions, expertise, and prospects for career advancement now have to be submerged just so the State and Party won't feel embarrassed.

On the other hand, I admit I can also think of one or two who will accept it, crack a few jokes, pretend nothing happened, and thus move up the ladder.

.
Ir-respecive of whether China did it or not, if this is implemented in Pakistan and given the number of calamities in Pakistan natural and man made, all Pakistani news channels will have nothing to show on air.

how about Indians, they just became the biggest foreign group in Australia, why's that,India is supposed to be the biggest democracy in the world and the people there are supposed to enjoy the utmost freedom, how come people are also fleeing?people dont move for social systems, people move for making more money.wherever people can get higher pay, people go there.

Indian students don't go to US?US is still having the best universities in world, see that university rankings, and Chinese universities can not accomodate these many students, and Chinese people are gettint wealthier which enbale them to study abroad, actually many overseas students are those who failed GAOKAO,Chinese uniform entrance exams for universities.I think it is good sign, students can learn a lot in foreign countries and bring back new ideas and perceptions.

Just pray to God that the track doesn't give in and collapse while you are riding the bullet train; you need the prayer even if you are an atheist. The communist government will pay only $100K for your death at max.

Sure your Koreans enjoyed their riding of Chinese high speed and loved to receive max $100k when they are killed by the communist:

LOL! Does that serve a crispy slap square on your face?

Really, I hope those S Koreans are not illegal immigrants remaining stayed in China as they shamelessly do in USA:

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the countries of origin for the largest numbers of illegal immigrants are as follows (latest of 2009):[7]
Country of origin Raw number Percent of total Percent change 2000 to 2009
Mexico 6,650,000 62% +42%
El Salvador 530,000 5% +25%
Guatemala 480,000 4% +65%
Honduras 320,000 3% +95%
Philippines 270,000 2% +33%
India 200,000 2% +64%
Korea 200,000 2% +14%
Ecuador 170,000 2% +55%
Brazil 150,000 1% +49%
China 120,000 1% -37%
Other 1,650,000 15% -17%

That explains why hundreds of thousands of Chinese elites immigrate to foreign countries every year.

Then please explain why tens of thousands Taiwan elites flee Taiwan and settle down in mainland?

The issue is not the rail system. The issue is censorship. Why the censorship?

Simple.

It is because CPC leaders are ashamed of the accident, unlike some shameless leaders in India where millions are starved to death, or USA where killing sprees considered routine and as "cost of freedom", or similar stuff anywhere else...

In fact, whether there is a censorship or not, do you believe the OP? Or do you believe what people googled or Baidu'd?

In fact I just baidu'd in China, and find so many reports on one year anniversary of the crash:

http://business.sohu.com/20120724/n348861035.shtml 温州动车事故一周年:中国高铁减速“疗伤” Wenzhou crash one year anniversary, China high-speed rail reduce speed to "cure".

http://finance.nfdaily.cn/content/2012-07/24/content_51455887.htm 温州动车事故1周年 中国高铁减速疗伤 上座率未减 Wenzhou crash one year anniversary, China high-speed rail reduce speed to "cure", occupancy does not reduce.

...

all those are prominent websites.

Also there are also personal blogs that criticize the government not holding any event to memorize the accident in an attempt to dilute it.

I also find that it is BBC that invoke "unverified" allegation from IFJ that China imposed censorship, and IFJ claims it is "deeply frustrated by reports" that China blocks all media reporting of the crash anniversary.

Is it fishy?

India has dozens of railway accidents each year , no one cencor.

15,000 people die in India railway tracks each year, no one cencor.

When China has a railway accident in five years, Indians talk about it all day round.

This is typical Indian.

.
The truth of the reporting about censorship is the west (+some idiotic countries in Asia) feels the pinch of the severe challenge of China's bullet train against theirs so they will try every effort to tarnish the quality of the China-made bullet trains!

LOL!

If the Chinese run away because they love democracy, why don't they run to nearby democratic India but cross the ocean to USA?

Get you mind straight.

Democracy is dirty cheep and it is everywhere, and high quality schools are expensive and not everywhere.

Don't think you erect a cheap sign of democracy then your other stuffs will be more valuable. Nay, nay! The world doesn't work this way.

Chinese censorship is one of the dumbest moves ever by a nation.

yeah, Like no one knows about the crash. mmhmm.

It's like they're still treating people like 5 year olds.

If you want to do propaganda and censorship, do it right. Be like the US. Don't hide FACTS. Mention all the relevant facts, but emphasize the ones that are to your advantage and just mention the facts that are not convenient in passing.

Outright censorship just makes people more suspicious that you have stuff to hide.
