I was surprised to see that only 9% of Japanese favor Israel. Most Chinese actually think highly of Jewish people of being the smartest group on this planet (Yeah a bit racism). As to the country of Israel, it is a mixed feeling. On one hand Chinese respect Israel as an advanced country. On the other hand, Chinese are sympathetic to Palestinians. So you get a 50% to 50% like/dislike from the survey picture onthe first page. The cold war strenghened the "dislike" since China was initially sided with Soviet Union and Yasser Arafat. For that reason, PRC didn't recogonize Israel as a country until 1990s. After the relationship gets normal, there're some major military coordinations. (China acquires quite a bit technology from Israel as everyone knows). There's no bad histroy between China and Israel so there's no unfavorable opinion.
