Well, they thought big things but through short terms and dirty tactics. If anyone can understand, the constant rise of Pakistan almost at every forum that NaMO tried to malign, there is a message that when it comes to geopolitics and international issues then things worked differently rather than being under impression of having an influence due to defence purchases etc. It is always about National interest and benefits in long terms. India has fired her shot long ago by joining the US camp that caused the loss of her political influence in Asia especially among anti-US bloc.
Russia, China and Pakistan are well aware of new Indian-US relations and the goals of such growing friendship are clear. Current India-Russia relations are no more than sell & purchase of weapons when it comes against China.
Rest about geopolitical group or regional bloc, India is nowhere to be seen after LEMOA. No matter what and how much excuses are made, the change has begun. Pakistan-China relations are way more than money and are strong due to many other factors hence undoubted and getting more stronger and widening day by day that helps to get closer to many other countries.
The continuous wrong demand of India from every country to choose a side actually made it easy to the day that none shows the concern nor are interested for distancing diplomacy from a country like Pakistan that plays a major role in regional stability and growth.
Also, the usual claim of money can buy everything and is the reason of such relations, misled the Foreign policy to the extent where NaMO forgot to build relations in a win win manners for everyone in the region or to have the support in-case of any conflict except US. India has succeeded to attract US to her camp but on other hand becomes the front man to face China and Pakistan to please D.C while providing an access to her bases to US does not mention specifically against China so the same includes Russia as well that Moscow might understand well.
China-Russia are more closer and it is a fact that India cannot break the China-Russia bond though both these powers understands the need of each other in these times especially since India joined US camp through LEMOA and agreeing to provide access to the bases.
Pakistan did not claims that Russia will side us but Russian stance showing no concern with India on such occasion in these matters, is a loud and clear message for many to understand that the blame and defame policy cannot work like this that too on totally different occasions and has no concern. The scheme of manipulation, fabricated and twisted facts does not carry any weight or substance to backup hence are easily understood by many parties in the region.

Russia also made sure to draw maximum benefits from typical "indian mentality". india irked by Russian move to develop economic and military relation with Pakistan. Moscow always counted on the fact that indian "irks" has its own benefits. And we all witnessed those benefits came in the tune of billions in weapons and energy deals in indian market. But even after spending billions on Russians, Russia refused to see things through indian prism; that is an utter loss for india.
In the days when Russia and US threatening each other almost every day and sanctioned Russia, india making deals with Russia worth billions will not go very well in Washington circus (just remember how US forced France to rescind on Mistral deal) . So india actually lost with all major power brokers in the current world order.

Best is to lay low till India reaches that position that it could indeed directly influence global geo politics, Thats how China did it.. Premature posturing of power without sufficient influence to back it can backfire spectacularly.. It may work sporadically with regional countries with little or no strategic importance but not with real global powers
Well in the context of new global powers it's not dead but it's not a reality either, About shifting the power to the East it's already under way

India lacks International clout coupled with UNSC seat.
US-Russia always give India a lip service, nothing more, when it comes to International matters that matter the most.
Obviously no country would be serious towards India, when they listen (on one hand) of India's so called Surgical strikes, and on the other, Modi supplying electricity to Pakistan through his friends a la Adani.

India is isolated:-
1. India signed with Russia for S-400, when Chinese president is even at the BRICS in India.India keep S400 with an eye for China and Pakistan.Why Russia do that, even at near presence of Chinese president !
2. Russian president never ever visited pakistan, but do many visits in India
3. US President visited 2 times in india, but none in Pakistan
4. No SAARC summit instead these countries top leaders visited for BIMSTEC in Goa
5. US and Russia made clear that they will not sell most advanced fighter jets to pakistan(Recent F-16 jets and SU-35)
6. All these countries also have plan for production facility in India
7. European union countries already ban military sale to China a long time ago
8. Indians can travel more easily compared to Chinese or pakistan with their own passport
9. India is growing almost 7.5% when even many economies are struggling especially Russia,Brazil etc
10. Even at not a good relation with China, India-China do military exercises

india virtually got not one but 2 diplomatic slap and these are quite hard ones. Even after purchase of billions of Russia arms, Russia very much told Modi to you are insane. And China actually still slapping india all over the place and more to come. In international forum india will find itself in hard position.

China moves to defend Pakistan after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused Islamabad of nurturing terrorists and sponsoring cross-border terrorism.
Responding to a question about Modi's remarks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying at a daily news briefing in Beijing on Monday defended Islamabad’s record in fighting terrorism.
"Everyone knows that India and Pakistan are victims of terrorism. Pakistan has made huge efforts and great sacrifices in fighting terrorism. I think the international community should respect this," Hua said, adding, "We also oppose the linking of terrorism to any specific country, ethnicity or religion. This is China's consistent position."
In unprecedented and harsh remarks during a meeting on Sunday of leaders from the BRICS group of countries, which also include Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa, in the western Indian state of Goa, Modi said India’s neighbor has become the main breeder of terror activities and branded Pakistan as ‘mother-ship of terrorism.’
“Tragically, the mother-ship of terrorism is a country in India's neighborhood,” Modi said without directly naming Pakistan.
In recent weeks, the Indian premier has stepped up his drive to isolate Pakistan by highlighting the country’s alleged role in sponsoring terrorism.
Tensions have escalated between nuclear arch-rivals India and Pakistan since 19 Indian soldiers were killed in a September 18 attack on Uri army base in Kashmir, near the disputed frontier with Pakistan. India accused Pakistan of carrying out the attack, which was the worst such assault in 14 years.
The attack on the Indian army base has triggered a war of words between the neighbors. India says the attackers were affiliated with a militant group based in Pakistan. Islamabad has rejected India's claims as "unfounded and premature."
India has long accused Pakistan of backing militant groups operating in Kashmir with Premier Modi accusing Pakistan of "exporting terrorism."
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has accused India of engagement in an “unprecedented arms build-up” along the de facto border dividing Kashmir.
Kashmir has also witnessed an increase in mass protests over the killing of a pro-independence figure in early July. Tens of thousands of Indian government troops have been deployed to Indian-controlled Kashmir and over 80 people have lost their lives in the ensuing crackdown.
China has long been a strong military, economic and diplomatic supporter of Pakistan amid a border dispute between Beijing and New Delhi.
Last year, officials from Beijing and New Delhi pledged to settle the border dispute, which dates back to a brief border war in 1962.
