China Box Office: 'Jurassic World' Grabs $100M As Blackout Looms

Funny thing is East Asians are also portrayed as thugs and criminals too.

.
LMFAO.

That part killed me.

Dude, dude, dude...calm it down man. You sound like some of my friends who get angry at the sight of Asian girls holding hands with a whitey with yellow fever! What do you expect -- we live in a country that is immigrant-based. Its bound to happen , and whitey happens to make up the majority of the demographics, lol. Considering the fact that what ? East Asians make up less than 5% of the US Population, there's still a lot of representation in hollywood as of late.

I mean, definitely they need to stop with the stereotype that Asian guys are betas and super-intellectual geeks who succeed in life. Wait. Wait. Is that a bad thing? lol.

Anyways, as for East Asians in Holly wood....

I just don't want whitewashed Uncle Chans, beta nerds and "colorblind" Kumbaya Asians representing me. It has nothing to do with population. Blacks make up 15% of the population in the US but why do they get represented in every other movie? Asian males don't get 1/3 the screentime that blacks do.

Also, Fresh off the Boat was made by Eddie Huang, who had to succeed as a chef first to get a show based on his memoir.

I hate to say it but even Mortal Kombat was better.

If you have no backbone and no sense of urgency, then go ahead. I at least am awake. Have some sense of self preservation.

. . .
MAINLY asexual geeks with thick accent in Hollywood movies , lol.

The girls are portrayed as white man's hoes
Better than being a beta nerd.
It's mainly either thugs or nerds. You have a point. David Henney for instance, has the looks but doesn't get many normal roles. I think it's hard for a non-white male to play a romantic role in Hollywood.

And South Asians are terrorists or taxi drivers. Nowadays, I even see South Asians playing the nerd too.

Yes, but the south Asian nerd is pretty much shown to the audience as an Indian. Sri Lankans, Bangladeshi, etc all the same.

Asians have a disease - the disease of white worshipping.

A Chinese art film with good plot, maybe a few million dollars box office.

But man will Chinese pay out the nose to see shit like Avengers who are superheroes with no relation to Chinese culture whatosever. Then you have Koreans who PAID to have Avengers made there (usually the movie studio pays the locality).

Well Hollywood makes entertaining movie that everyone including Chinese people enjoys. Art films flops all over the world including the ones made in Hollywood. This has nothing to do with white worshiping.

I didn't get what you said? I've never seen a Sri Lankan character in hollywood before but there are Sri Lankans who play other characters.

I watched a movie called "Safety not Guaranteed" recently and the Indian in it was portrayed as the nerdiest guy who had never had a drink in his life, worst with girls etc.

I meant to say it's only Indian that are used to represent all south Asians, ie. Sri Lankans, Bangladeshi, etc

The dinos from JP are fictional and fake, the real dinos are feathered and look closer to the birds than to the reptilians.

PS, now they use the pure CGI instead of the animatronics + CGI like they did in the past movies, so another huge watered down to the special effect.

Actually during the movie they mention that point

LOL! Uncle Chans? That's like the first time I ever heard of that term used before, but yea...LOL! Cracked me up. I get what you're saying man, and I get the frustration part. It begs one to ask, do East Asians prioritize the arts / film roles as say other ethnics in the United States? Could we also not say that the emphasis of East Asians going into the STEM pathway have a role in this? I mean, have you read the background of Steven Yeun (he plays Glenn in the Walking Dead series) ? Prior to going into acting he was a neuroscience major at Kalamazoo College, and considered getting his Ph.D in Clinical Psychology and going into research.

One can't ignore the family dynamic for East Asian Americans; and you have to admit that the parental influence of encouraging children to go into Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Podiatry, Engineering, Research, Economics/ Business over....the arts.

I just think there's a social psychology role influence here. That's all.

???? I figured you'd be calling that movie the worst stereotypes ever.

LOL!!!!

You noticed how Hollywood really mixed and matched Chinese and Japanese in movies in the 1980s? Like for example Victor Wong played in 3 Ninjas as 'Grandpa Tanaka'? Seriously? They couldn't find a Japanese actor? LOL!

???? I figured you'd be calling that movie the worst stereotypes ever.

When i first saw that movie back in the day the first thing i was thinking (as i was laughing hysterically ) was how 'Grandpa Tanaka' spoke with a REALLY, REALLY heavy Chinese accent --- A Hong Kong accent to be precise --- seriously? Then again, as if the average American back in the 1980s, 1990s could tell the difference.
