I keenly follow Pakistan cricket (even to the level of domestic tournaments) and support them in Internationbal matches always (except when they are playing against India). I read a lot about the promising domestic players as well.. Bowlers like Tabish Khans with a domestic average below 24 runs per wicket, promising but not living upto potential players like Fawad Alams always intrigued me.
As far as great batsmen go, in my time I saw few great Pakistani batsmen as well.. Mohamed Yusif (former Youhana), Miandad, Inji, Yunus presently. Yes the numbers had been less than the desired level and the current lot (may be except Babar Azam) does not look world class.
I had been very fortunate that I can still pursue this childhood love of mine in my early 40s (74 born) since last 9 years (since I came to Bahrain), which I could not do when I was working in India due to very demanding job. Only if my physical fitness was a bit better, I would have probably given trial for Bahrain national team as well..
I know couple of 44 year old Pakistani players playing for Bahrain in this tournament itself
. The 20 year old Pakistani pashtun placer is from my club only. GCC country's teams are mostly monopolized by Pakistani players. They are really good at the shorter version, but fails miserably in 50 over matches, specially vulnerable against slow bowlers (I being a dibly dobly medium pacer myself).
I really wish there will be some sort of cricketing engagement between Indian & Pakistani teams in the future (apart from the ICC events , i.e.).
