China needs to improve the environment though. Urban spaces are good for saving energy, but there needs to be a sustainable rural population (maybe 30%) that keeps the land alive with family farming. We can't afford industrial farming, environmentally. We just don't have the land or the water. Instead, we need to use traditional farming methods like fish-rice farming, and some modern techniques like genetic engineering, to raise yields without using petrochemicals which harm the environment.

Indeed, i went back to Shanghai for the World Expo last year, and the small cities around Shanghai enjoy a better quality of life than Shanghai itself.

Rural area is good choice for third world countries like VN-India bcz at least poor people can grown their crop and get some foods ,lots of China building are empty bcz poor people can not affort to buy and live there , then real estate bubble in china is very dangerous now.

that proves china is currently a regional magnet for devouring resources from its surrounding, i think small vietnam will soon become addicted to fit china's appetite...and you must know that in the food chain a primary producer always produce the basic item for consumption by consumers of higher hierarchy, selling food and resources can never become industrialized strong countries, this includes malaysia and vietnam too......open your eyes...

We're developing our country in balace way, it's too hard for small countries to become industrialized strong countries without help from big country like US-EU union or Russia. Without US-EU help even Japan -S.korea also can not become industrializedcountries.

We soon will have exclusive industrial zone with US-Japan help bro, but we're still need to keep a large rural area for growing crops
