China-Bangladesh Relations and Potential for Regional Tensions

With indian stooges installed in Bangladesh political and military leadership, india is moving fast to cut off military ties with China.

Even military training to China is getting blocked by indian installed agents.

Accoding to Chinese govt mouthpeice People's daily China no longer consider Bangladesh to be close friendly nation.

Awami League digital deception taking its toll on Bangladesh as nation and its long term strategic interest.

Now are we going to get the blame for your governments failed foreign policy initiative?

@Bangladeshis,

Don't you see how China is only interested in financing projects if BD serves their interests by antagonizing India? The Chinese could care less about Bd or India, they want to keep us busy amongst ourselves so they can claim hegemony over Asia.

We have to live next to each other so instability in either country isn't going to help the other.

I for one would love to see a strong and prosperous BD, it will bring stability to the region and maybe once we have an economic stake in each others development we can move past all our differences.

Bangladesh current awami govt proved more than enough that they are indian stooge. Therefore awami govt activities can not be seen as failure but success of indian interference. While indians pretend to be dumb founded and play victim game, in delhi your govt establishment is hatching next move to marginalize Bangladesh sovereignty.

This is indian problem; if China or some other country finance projects in Bangladesh and contribute in Bangladesh interest it’s only natural that Bangladesh does the same in some fashion.
But india has proved in last 39 years it does know how to share. Instead indians took road of domination, bully and interference. Which in turn brought misery to Bangladeshis and other indian neighbors? If indians can not tolerate Bangladesh having good relation and finance from China or any other country, that is problem with india's national psyche. No one can cure that.

I do not see how it troubles our Indian friends if we have close ties with China - because we are so desperately poor and India troubled by its own poverty cannot help us even if they wish to.
India should be happy that since they cannot help us in this area as our well wishers, someone else is willing to lend a helping hand.
Our attempts at breaking free of these poverty bonds is a good news to India also because, the areas of India that surrounds Bangladesh are also poor and as they say if the water level rises in one place it lifts all the boats - including the BOATS in India.
I think India should help us rather than hinder in getting more out of China. Even America is taking big loans from CHINA.
And in the end let me quote one of our wise Indian friends who says somwhere on this forum that, 'It makes sense from the Bangladeshi perspective to milk both India & China'

You are right, India is not to be trusted by its neighbours, including BD. India has very little knowledge about SAHBAT.

You have raised a good number of valid points. If China helps BD, it is also a help for India, indirectly. You said well about the relationship between water level and boats.

Glad to have you back - and we have been missing you too.

I think I'm the one that said that.

Indeed it does makes sense for Bangladesh to milk China and India. China has a lot more to offer, so Bangladesh should milk them for all that they have and more, but this should not be done at the cost of hurting your relationship with India.

A prosperous BD is good for India too, we're next door, so if BD starts doing better that will mean more trade in the neighborhood so we both do better.

India and Bangladesh should invest in each others future so we can ensure a stable and prosperous South Asia. No body wants an enemy at their doorstep.

China isn't interested in building a relationship with BD if they remain friendly or even neutral to India, they have their own agenda which is to check any country that could potentially challenge their hegemonic designs by engaging their rivals. Have a look at China's special bond with Pakistan.

There are plenty of other countries who are willing to step in their shoes, namely India, US, UK, Japan etc. China's designs in South Asia will be countered.

Bangladesh is not and should not bound by Indian interest of hegemony and dominating the region. Again if India sees Bangladesh being close to China is against Indian interest then its Indian problem and flaw in Indian fundamental policy. Bangladesh can look after its interest and decide who is friend; it's not something india to decide. If India claims that (a proven Indian deception) it's not interfering and undermining sovereignty of its neighbors then India has no business telling Bangladesh who better suitable partner for us.

There is difference in approach how China deals with neighbors and how india does. It has proven over 60 years india bullied its neighbors, attacked and threatened neighbors, occupy neighbors land, kill neighbors citizens at will and constantly interfere in neighbors internal affairs. On the contrary China financed projects and contributed billions in its neighbors development, enhanced their defenses but did not interfere in internal affairs of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Srilanka. It’s only natural South Asian people (minus Indians) will side with China.

Problem india and indians have, has to do with india's national psyche and fundamental policy evolve from it. No one can cure that.

Oh boohoo,

stop ranting and pay attention.

I'm not saying BD shouldn't have a relationship with China, BD can go ahead and deal with whoever they please, that's their business. But as neighbors, we must learn to coexist, this means neither country does anything to undermine the other. And India has done nothing of the sort till date.

If we start fighting then there will be only one winner, i.e China.

BD doesn't border China, so you wouldn't know how they deal with their neighbors. Like the Vietnamese, or the Japanese, or the South Koreans, or the Taiwanese. Any idea how China interferes in the mattes of its neighboring countries?

You are blinded by hatred and fear, you seem to be incapable of comprehending ground realities or my post for that matter.

BD today is building a better relationship with India, and this is of the foremost importance for both our countries.

Would you really want India to behave like China? wouldn't that make BD Taiwan?

What you are saying in repeated and typical Indian circular logic is this – Bangladesh having good relation with China is not in Indian interest. And if Bangladesh or Indian weaker neighbors pursue deeper relation with China, India will even impose war on its neighbors. Indian desperation can not be more visible and even more reasons for Bangladesh and india's other negighbors to be close to China.

We have given our reply that no neighbors including Bangladesh (except current Indian stooge regime) do not bound by indian hegemonic wish. But you are so shamelessly coming back with same begging hat. Did I not say it’s the problem with india's national psyche. Now you as an Indian are living proof of that.

.
Well the current regime in Bangladesh is quite willing to pursue closer ties with India. Since they were democratically elected into office, clearly most Bangladeshis would like to see better relations between our countries.
